110 HEADLINING RETRIM

Hi All
I'm considering re-trimming the headliner of my 110 Utility wagon with a black / darker lining. I'm planning on using the original fitted one and covering it myself so need any advice on the rolling issues:
1. Is there a specific order to take the original, fitted one off? (do I also need to take the rear side trim / safari window trim covers off as well?)
2. I've seen a few posts with people having mixed success with the glue - does anyone have any advice / recommendations?
3. What thickness material is best? I was looking at 3mm van carpet lining or even the fake Alcantara - again any advice / recommendations appreciated.
4. Finally - fir tree fixings - where can I find and what is the correct term for these!!!! I will need black / dark grey ones.

I did mine last summer, its a tricky job. Main advice is be bloody patient and meticulous about it. I used some faux Alcantara, which after a quick spray with some suede shoe protection spray its essentially water proof so makes it easy peasy to clean when it gets a dirty.

Tree fixings - MWC9832LUH - I don't believe they do black ones but you can always paint them.

I used this glue main point about this is you must make sure it is heavy duty high temperature glue as in the summer it will come away if you dont. I also used a stapler on the inside edges of the lining to ensure it all stayed in place.

The biggest problem you'll have is getting the material to mold properly around the various lines and such, so the fabric you use would be best to have a little flex in it. Use a little more glue in these areas.

Got no sagging at all on my rear lining thats almost perfect but since the front has sagged a little where I didnt use enough glue!

The Mrs did mine with some oil cloth, glue and staples. A heat gun helped mould it into shape.

Is it straight forward enough to get the panels out and back in again????

Getting the front and rear head linings out of my 90 took about half a day but wasnt overly difficult.

Stupid Question: Did you have to remove the side, plastic trim panels???

I didnt have to but I did unbolt the seatbelts at the top to add some flex. The lining bends pretty easy, be careful not to rip it when you take it down. While its out good to check for any dampness in the roof
