How big a job is it to convert a 110 hardtop to a SW or should I say is it really worth it or would I be better just looking for a SW? Have a sprog on the way and need to find a Landy solution to transporting it, the doris and a large dog!

if you want 5 doors i wouldnt bother , too much hassle.
if you are ok with 3 doors its dooable.

when you say 3 doors, do you mean just remove bulkhead, add a seat in back and possibly some windows in sides? this was my original thought but the doris reckons it'll be hard to get the little one in and out. Also what is the legallity of fitting seats in the rear?

In theory you could do the conversion but it would require a lot of body parts from a scrapped 110SW, some of which are quite hard to find - like the second row doors, and the door pillars. Overall probably best to just pay the extra and buy one outright, you won't regret it, they are the most useful landy configuration.

I got my Hardtop converted to a 110 SW two years ago, for the same reason.
Costs loads, on was only worth doing because the rear panels (all) were battered on mine so I would have not got much cash unless I got it repared.
I now have a tidy 110 CSW 300tdi with 70K instead of a battered old hardtop.
I would say that 110 CSW prices have come down alot since I did mine so probaly wouldn't do the same now.
If you need any advice give the guys at Foley SV a call, they probably have the parts avalible if you go ahead with it.
