Hello chaps,

This is my first post, and it is Bourne out of desperation. I have been browsing this forum for a while as its very handy.

Ok, So my 110 won't start. I've been scratching my head for a while with this fault and its got me stumped so here goes. Any and all advice is most welcome.

I jumped into the landy this morning, tried to turn her over and she was difficult as usual, turned over for quite a while and didnt fire. (she always tends to do this)

I then went to give her abit of Glow plug for a while, then when I turned the key to turn her over again, all I got was lots of clicking at the fuse box from a Relay. All lights on the dash went out and the ignition did nothing... all the electrics on the landy went dead.

So I gave it a little while, popped the bonnet and looked for anything obviously wrong. There wasn't. I checked all the connections and wiring to the Starter/Solenoid, which all seemed fine.

went back to try and turn here over, again, just some clicking then the dash lights went again. I then went around checking all the usual gremlins etc... and kept trying to turn her over and getting the same result.

A curious thing was that I noticed after a few goes that when I turned the ignition on, the clock started to 'tick' backwards. The last time I checked, the 110 wasn't a time machine, so I'm assuming the polarity was getting reversed someplace.

My Stereo/Sat Nav head unit doesn't turn on with the ignition. (I do hope it's not been fried)

So now I'm left with the situation where the landrover is now totally dead.

The only thing I've done that may have been silly was to 'jet wash'/pressure wash my engine yesterday, which was on at the time. But she started afew times after I did this quite happily.

So there you go... thats the story so far. Help!

Battery earth problems

Either the battery terminal itself, or more likely one of the earth straps, possibly affected from where you pressure washed.

You can't rely on them just looking tight - you need to take off, clean and reassemble with copper grease or equivalent.

A pain to track down which one, but hopefully a cheap repair

I'd check the battery and then around the starter motor area first off

You may well have jet washed the little cable off your fuel cut off solenoid ... little spade connector that comes off easily like the one on the starter solenoid. Probably flattened the battery afterwards. That's my guess

Turns out I got water in the loom, with alittle bit of poking it seems to be working again.

My Mrs Hairdryer was actually of some utility to me for once... :D
