109 V8 fuel tank breather

Hi

I’ve a 109 V8 with fuel tank under passenger seat. The engine dies after a few seconds unless the fuel cap is off. How do I go about unblocking the fuel breather as I think that’s the issue.

Good question I have twin tanks and when switched to passenger side I think that happens to mine , it was on my to do list, not got round to it yet, so hopefully suggestions will come

New cap. Old cap soaked in brake cleaner. Replace breather hose.

It has the fuel tank under the passenger seat, so there is no cap as such.

Military spec. Gotcha. Same applies, except check the cork gasket.

Is there some kind of pin hole/ breather in the cap itself , if I run mine for a bit and then release cap you can hear the air rush in as it must be operating under vacuum
