What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Shop around, the cheap ones dont connect properly especially on the speedo. Some are too bright, at night on the heater ones etc.
Make sure you get ones with cloud lenses / diffusers, and not bare leds, else they are directional.
Had led instrument illumination for 10 years now, blue originally grew out of that and now back to green !

I’ve got the fourby LED’s in the dash on my 90. The only issue I found was that two of the holders for the LED’s have broken, which need replacing or repairing. The LED’s are not too bright either. Better than cheap ones.

With the Superpro ones, you get a little sachet of their own grease in the kit, which I diligently applied, both last time (10 years ago) and this time. It didn't seem to have lasted though!

Went to the GB Land Rover Show in Stoneleigh, Coventry today. Was great to see so many Defenders of all types there, from mid restoration, working vehicles, to immaculately restored and upgraded ones. Had a good look around the stalls and the "VIP Parking" for Landys, got lots of inspiration. Was good to see some of the products for sale in person, have a feel of the quality etc.

Watched a few trucks tackle the off road course, looked very impressive. One of the marshals took us around in his Disco (for a small fee), it was very impressive. From where we were watching originally we thought it was a tough but ok course, from actually going around in it it was very different! Lots of steep inclines and declines, all covered in slippy mud, and very bouncy. Absolutely loved it! Will have to take the Defender next year once I get some practice in.

Of course, spent some money at the stalls:

• 2x 20l Jerry cans (they'll fit in one of the external lockers).
• Gloss black radiator grille.
• Internal door handles.
• Snow cowl and replacement wing top grille.
• Towing pintle and D shackle for the front bumper.
• New windscreen rubber seal, will need replacing at some point. Figured I may as well buy it now rather than waiting until I want to do the job and then ordering it and waiting.
• Various sized grommets for filling the holes leftover from removing bolts from the body.
• Breaker bar to convince stubborn bolts to move.
• Ear defenders for the little one so long drives in the rattly, noisy engine don't damage her hearing!

Started making a few of these. As I couldn’t find one. Eagle eyed viewers may also notice the hack job on the wing. I may also have got some foolishly big tyres. Good job I’m not precious about things . Might be an ok truck when it’s done.

Today was a day of pottering, small jobs.

• Put air in the tyres, glad I did as there was less than 30psi in each. They're rated for 75psi at full weight, so I put a sensible 50psi each. I'll see how long it lasts.
• Installed some of the bits I bought at the GB LR Show in Stoneleigh, namely the internal door handles, snow cowl + wingtop grille, radiator grille.
• Spent some time going around with blanking grommets sealing the various holes from stuff I've removed. Went better than I thought, 3 left to do. I put the grommets in hot water to soften them up a bit which made them easier to fit into place.
• The jerry cans fit nicely in the side storage lockers, look forward to filling them up and having a reserve of diesel.
• The pintle for the front bumper is too big in diameter, so I'll have to source another one.
• Started applying lipstick to the pig. My Defender is exMOD, which means it was painted NATO green a few times in its life. And by painted, of course I mean sheep dipped in NATO green paint. Everything is green. Inside is green. Outside is green. All the trim is green. The plastic is green. The wheel arches are green. The windscreen rubber seal is green. The window seals are green. Inside the cubbies are green. The bumpers/ crossmembers are green. So in order the break up the sea of NATO approved matte green, I've tested a patch of gloss black accents. My plan is to paint the chequer-plate and wheel arches gloss black, similar to other examples of Wolves and MOD Defenders that I've seen, except that they'll be gloss. Hopefully it'll be a tasteful breaking up of the sea of green, but still in keeping with its history. I think the test patch looks quite smart. I'll wait for the weather to warm up a smidge before I tackle the full job. In two minds whether to paint the front bumper and rear crossmember black as well, but we'll see. Maybe just the rear bumperettes.

In other news, made a DIY mechanic creeper from an old stainless steel frame with spinning casters. Just riveted brackets to the inside of the frame to hold some plywood, now I've a handy way of getting under the Defender without using the chassis to move myself along.

I would say 50 psi is a bit much for the tyres. I used to go 30 all round on my Ninety, except for towing, when I pumped up the rears to about 40 psi.
I doubt 50 psi will do serious harm, but it may reduce grip a bit, and possibly wear the tyres in the middle of the tread.

Duly noted, thank you. I'll keep a close eye on them. I'm not too worried about them at the moment as it is a heavy Defender (3050kg) so could probably do with being a bit higher psi, and they're narrow MOD tyres so I'm hoping they'll be up to the task.

was thinking about this earlier, i've got gerbing heated gloves for my bike, and a heated jacket, might wire in a connector for them by my seat so i can wear them in the defender. or wear my heated waistcoat plugged in to the USB socket.
