Ok so I have missed a load of this, but did spot my new bumper+ goodies:).

Anyway.

To cut up a 1 of 15 makes no sense to me it’s value is in its rarity.
You have no workspace or tools to do what you are thinking (ability can be learnt) your welder mate will soon get fed up patching “your project”. To me expecting to do this on a drive or transport back and forth for somebody else to do paid work, will end in empty wallet and unfinished project.
You have been advised/reminded many times about major surgery and the pit falls.

A defender cab can be made to disco comfort without breaking any rules/regs and this could be done on a drive.

you seem to be going round in circles to try and circumnavigate the rules, or your knowledge/ability.

The defender build is more Lego like as lots of bits mix and match with no issue, the disco however isn’t so flexible.
Have you actually looked at the way a defender is built up onto the chassis as apposed to the disco?

I understand perhaps you want to put your own mark on your vehicle, but you would do better to buy as suggested above.

I know this may sound as if I am totally dissing your project/idea but I am not:) but you have to be a realist sometimes.

Anything is doable if you have a big enough wallet;).

I own a 1 of 25, I would not sell to somebody who was going to cut it up to make it better.

Why not just put a roof tent+awnings on your present disco and enjoy:).

After chopping up a landrover & then been shown it’s history I was kicking myself for a few years. it was an OXC plate so was owned by landrover & jaguar in the 70’s.

Rooftents are just not for me, and neither is 14mpg, so a derv, particularly one that can run on veg oil, is desired. Im quite confident I can make a fiberglass popup roof system, as Ive done a fair bit with fiberglass boats etc. I also dont want a defender, I cant afford anything half decent these days.
For me, the value in the ambulance is in its extended wheelbase!
How rare is a 3.9 V8i manual?

Sort your engine, or your foot cos you should get better than 14mpg.

I often joke about my mpg, but get better than that out of a 6.3.

Ive had almost 17mpg out of it, but Ive also had 12mpg too. I dont sit on the motorway at 56mph, thats not what a V8 is for! Mind you, when I bought it, petrol was £1.04/L so it wasnt quite so silly.

Another thing regarding maintaing its originality, where do you draw the line? Its already got raptor paint. New wheels and tyres? Im sure thats fine. A suspension lift? A popup roof might have to happen, because the vehicle is too tall, especially with a lift and big tyres, and the space inside isnt high enough, so a popup roof might make it 4-6 inches lower when its down, which is better for fuel consumption, height restrictions, trees on greenlanes etc.

As it left the factory that is where you draw the line on originality...my 101 I have altered electrics fitted new gauges and will soon be installing a new dash panel...but with all parts kept to be able to restore to original as I bought it..but it left the factory as 24v so was'nt original when I bought it...

Was it that colour? (I personally think that colour is rather good)
The ambulance ready has different paint, it already had the flashing blue lights removed, already had the ambulance stickers, stretchers etc removed, and if I were to kit it out into a camper (as suggested by others) it would be further altered from original. Im not sure how many of the original 15 are left, but they really arent THAT special, its just a 3 door disco, with the middle made 16 inches longer, a longer middle window and a plastic lid

No it didnt leave the factory in that paint but if you live in Portugal you dont drive around in an obviously millitary style vehicle in NATO green paint with a camo canvas top it came with...Morroco is a days drive away and an hour ferry crossing for us hence again no military look so went for Kawasaki Ninja Green...

Might be a while, unless you know someone after a manual V8 discovery
Bizarrely I'd like one, but I already have a Disco 1 manual V8 with LPG. Truble being it ain't certificated altho it obvs was done professionally, 4 tanks under and special smaller petrol tank etc.
If it was certificated I'd be driving it now but can't insure it properly to go abroad as it is.:(:(:(
But the off roading crowd would buy it i'd a thort, and as has been said put it on ere?!;)

Ive put it on the forum already. The problem is, for an offroader, its a little too nice, and a tdi is better for water. Mines a low-miler, so would be superb for taking abroad, or for an LPG conversion, because its not going to die anytime soon. If you fancy it, PM me (or something?) and Ill send you some pictures, more info, and a list of interesting bits that come with it

Sadly no time to do this as off to Frogland for a long stay next week.
LPG conversions are pricey too. Altho it is better supported over there. Over here we only know of one place floggin the stuff regularly now.:(:(:( And that's isn't close by. If they stopped selling it we'd be well fecked.:(:(:(
