Wanted 2.25 diesel engine

Wanted 2.25 diesel engine must be working or running. Or if pump is buggered to have a good head and block. Preferably a 3mb engine but not too worried either way. Cornwall, Devon or Somerset. I can collect.

There was someone recently selling a large selection of series diesel engines on ebay but I don't know where he was in the UK or what condition they were. Have you thought of putting a 2.5 n/a out of an early 90 in? There are quite a few of those around, all runners removed for tdi conversions.

I currently have a good working 2.5 but would rather keep the series 2A with the original style engine being the 2.25. There must be a few chaps on the forum who have removed these lumps for Tdi's and have them lying around I would imagine!

How can you tell from looking? Are there any obvious signs? I was going to ask him for the engine number and do it that way

I can see the extra cast ribs on the bottom of the block

It will still fit the same,just its a later engine

Dont think that one will be any good anyway. Looks like this chap doesn't really know what it runs like. Need an engine to just plonk straight in and off I go. Sounds picky i know!

Most people fit a tdi because the old engine was slow and smokey
But that's just the way they are

Yeah precisely so someone must have one lying about! Tryna keep the old girl as original as I can, only 1 previous owner and 1963 so would be good to see it through.

I would pull one apart before putting it in
Most will be worn out and new parts are so cheap for the 2.25

Unless you can hear it running I'm afraid you have to pull it apart, I know from bitter experince! You may get one where the owner videoed it before taking it out, that should do.
