110 defender on 1992 range rover chassis

Hello all
I need a bit of help with this defender project before i go and look a complete turd and ruin 2 cars !
I have a 1991 110 defender here in the states and a 1992 Range Rover county the range rover has a superb chassis in it the defender one is tired, I have four new out riggers for the defender I brought over from the UK my question is I have full workshop facilities is it possible to fit the 110 defender body on the the range rover chassis? I know I could get a new chassis shipped over but that,s going to take weeks to order one and ship and by the time it gets here I was hoping I could get it to fit without too much trouble .
I have been trying to get a picture of both bare chassis but so far i can only find the defender one
any advise other than shooting myself would be great !

Standard RRC has a 100" wheelbase so i'd say it would be a bit small

County LWB is 108"

Just restore the RRC

Unless the RRC was an LSE then it would be a 107”

It can be done- people have been building "100-inch hybrid" Land Rovers for years.
From a UK perspective, you would keep the Range Rover's identity as long as the suspension, engine and gearbox stayed on that chassis, with the 110 bodywork shortened to fit. This only really works if you are starting with a 2-door 110.

Whether it's better to do this or restore the RR and buy a new chassis for the 110 is the question. Given the values of Defenders over there (compared to when Landys were cheap to hack about here) I'd just keep both and restore them.

The range rovers here are going up but not nearly as much as a restored defender is thanks for the advise now I know I am 8 inches short story of my life lol I can revamp the defender chassis which might be less time consuming

Yep and a 110 is not 108" Doh...!!.....You know you can get 110 Countys as well.......LOL.

I’m sure it’s just as easy to “add” the extra length to a chassis. Your going to have to a lot of welding with riggers etc
Or just chop the rear off the 110.

You could cut and lengthen the RR chassis to 110”. But there is a fair chunk of work involved when all said and done. Out riggers and rear cross member. But perfectly doable.

The other option would be to cut the 110 body down to fit the 100” wheelbase of the RR.

This something done many times. Probably just as much work though. Would likely ruin the value of the Defender in the States. But is arguably the best wheelbase off road all round.

Its a 1991 110 county 200 tdi , i turned the boost up a little so she goes well enough for American drivers lol I spent today stripping it down and its not that bad really, someone had put sticky sound proofing on the floor pans and when i finally got it all off the paint was good underneath , doors were all rotten of course, but I have 5 new ones to go on the chassis is fairly good the rear section is tired if i was in the UK i would just buy a new rear end but over here that,s not possible without waiting weeks for one to ship over so If i spend a few days welding it seems to make sense to leave the range rover alone, it did seem a shame to break it up as its a USA spec two owner car with full history, its crying out to have the 6.0 lQ9 chevy engine I have sitting here slapped in it but time and money are a factor
