Body lift or suspension lift???

I havent decided on the tyre size yet, certainly something a bit more agressive than the road tyres it's on at the moment.

I have heard mixed reviews about both methods of lifting, but also wondered if anyone had done a combination of both..??

which way would you go ..suspension or body lift?

Neither!!!!! get some 235/85 r16 muds, pull your front wings out an inch at the top trim the front valance a little (cannot be seen from side of car)
on the rear make new stays to hold the rear panels out about 1 1/2 at the bottom.

Job done, may fit longer shocks at some point for more atriculation. thats it.

:D

I'm building this disco up as a greenlaner/RTV trials/play car it's not my daily drive, so I'm gonna trick it up and have some fun building it...I've already cut the valance off!

just fitted some 255/70/16 on mine, so the diffs are approx 40mm higher off the deck which is what you want, no matter how high the body is its your diffs that will get you stuck!!
i have bought a sus kit also which is just 2 inch as i do get some scrub, i found this by twisting the axel by driving up 3 tiers of landrover wheels and tyres upto the point where my rear wheel started to leave the floor.
no mods are required for a 2" lift but i bought braided extended brake lines anyway.
the other way your talking about is body mount spacers?? if your thinking of both then 2" lift via the sus, and i "THINK" 45mm body spacers will let you get away without doing further mods, but remember the most important thing is getting the diffs off the deck which relates back to tyres which will prob sting you more than the sus kit, am sure most will agree with me here???
hope this helps you out mate.

ian, what do you mean when you say pull the wings out?? only way i know or can think of is via rolling the arches which on these you wont get away with or getting the wizzer out on them???

What i say :) grab hold of the top of the arch any gently ease the wing out, this is what I did on mine. BE VERY carful not to go mad, it wil go.

If you're going to RTV it check the rules for the club you are RTVing with before you do anything.

no you don't.
just learn how to drive properly.

can i point out that theres not just the driving to think about. When i got my first disco it was raised three inch, the first weekend i had it the mother-in-law rang like clockwork for us to take her shopping again. so over we went she spent the hole trip complaining that the car was too high to get in and out of and never asked us to take her again. Now thats what i call a result!! Needless to say if she starts asking again my current disco will get an impromptu suspension lift.. money well spent i'd say.. lol

WHY? articulation and under diff clearence are the first things to look at. A suspension lift only gives you a better break over angle and some of the places I have had my disco in the past sure as hell don't need that :D
