Morning all, noticed this morning a tiny amount of creamy type stuff on the inside of my oil filler cap. At first I panicked, but I have been using it for very short runs for the last few weeks to work and back - literally 2.5 miles each way, then it's been parked up over the weekend.

I've marked the coolant level and cleaned the cap so I can monitor, but is this sort of normal for regular short runs?

Also I have noticed a tiny amount of white/grey smoke on start up and very occasionally it misses when revving but fine after less than a minute. No fault codes etc all looks normal

Maybe I have got too used to something being wrong with it!
 
I'm no expert here and don't wish to alarm you unnecessarily but my 200 tdi for several months only does short trips to the next village and back which is 2 kilometers each way and I don't have any creaming on my oil cap. It could be just condensation in the engine each morning. I would take it for a good run and see.
 
Thanks mike, I've read on other forums where people say it's normal for short runs but nothing on Landyzone to that effect - will have to just monitor and see
 
Get it really hot and drain the oil

I can recommend Shell helix I 5w40

This oil has transformed my td5

In what way has it transformed the vehicle? It's just a 5w/40 multigrade engine oil.
Hi lightening... In terms of smoothness of the engine at idle and through the Rev range it has made it run so much sweeter than it ever did on other 5w40 oils... It has active cleansing technology which does clean things up more than other oils... Euro car parts has it on offer try it in yours mate you will then believe me
 
I’ve never left oil in the vehicle long enough to notice if different ones are better I change it two or three times a year which is about every 3000 miles

Start looking at the recommendations for the diff , tbox and gbox oils. interesting......:eek::eek:

Aha you're correct, Land Rover should of had an hours meter like All other machinery
