Current cars 2000 td5, 2001 td5 & 2006 disco3 decided to buy myself a i930 scanner for my landys advertised on terrafirma which I was sure covered the disco 2's now I am not so sure nor can I find the socket to plug in the scanner tried the fold down panel under wheel and the panel at the left side footwell these are the areas where various web sites pointed to no joy pointers much appreciated off for 2 weeks to further weld the chassis and get rid of all those faults I've lived with for to many years

Wont work on the TD5, you need Nanocom Evo or Hawkeye (dont waste your money on anything else)
Will work sort of on the Disco 3 but the muts nuts is the GAP IID BT
The OBD socket on the TD5 is under the dash at the drivers side probably in line with the clutch pedal.
The Disco 3 socket is again on the drivers side but in line with the accelerator

And thanks for the info just feeling a bit scunnered think I read good reports about it on this site oh well I'll get in touch with the company they should not be allowed to say things like specific software for such and such a landy I would have thought

Do you have a link to the site you got it from?

Looking at one advertised on Amazon, it does state works on all 2004 Diesel vehicles.

This is due to pre 2004 Diesels vehicles not being OBD2 compliant

Cheers

From the Rimmer bros website about this unit.

http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-TF930LIST5
  • Works On - All 2001 and later OBDII compliant PETROL European vehicles - All 2004 and later OBDII compliant Diesel European vehicles - All 1996 and later OBDII compliant US and Asian vehicles. Terrafirma site claims
http://www.terrafirma4x4.com/product_detail.php?prod=TF930&grp=436

Pre-Programmed For:

Vehicle
Years
Defender 1997 - 2012
Discovery 2002 - 2013
Freelander 1999 - 2013
Range Rover 1999 - 2012
Range Rover Sport 2005 - 2013
Evoque 2012 - 2013
Jaguar 1994 - 2014

Which is strange as the TD5 Engined Discovery stretches from 1998 - 2004, take it the 15p engine was introduced in 2002?

In relation to the TD5, are you sure?

@Ian Mackay , You should have limited diagnostics availability on the D2 TD5, but it is not as good as a Hawkeye or Nanocom.

plug it in and seem if it does what you need, not everyone needs an all singing all dancing diagnostic unit.

Cheers

On the frog island link from neilly above it shows 1999 to 2004 but it has petrol beside the 99 and 2004 is diesel read it as 99 to 2004 and purchased

In relation to your Disco 3 this applies -
The I930 not bad at all and reads all the systems on the car and not just the engine like many cheapo code readers.
It also does live data ie injector codes, compressor pressures/temps, loads of vids on youttube.
I had one and when I got an IID tool as my car had no errors there was basically no difference in what it told me, but the I930 cant go in depth (ie suspension heights) or programme, when I sold it it went for 20 quid less than a new one so cant complain.
This was from a Disco 3 owner (not me)
