Well if you read my last post all pointed to petrol pump failure,but because i had put a new Bearmack pump in about 3 months ago i found it hard to believe the pump had failed so soon.well i had no other option but to take out the pump.The pump looked like it had been in the tank for over a 100 years,it was all corroded and covered in a thick brown sticky tar like gunk.When i put in the new pump i syphoned off the old petrol in the tank,but obviously that wasn,t good enough.This time i,ve cleaned the tank and wiped down the inside of the tank with a clean cloth.I think this may of been the problem all along with the misfire,we shall see.

Had the same problem mate, how long had the old petrol been in the tank?
Hi well i was a brave man and bought the car as a non runner ,so its anybodys guess,but it was a real mess in that tank.it was like tar when wet but as it dried it crystallized and went brittle,never would have believed it if i hadn,t seen it for myself.

I bought one that I was told had stood for 4 yrs, turns out it was 6. Even the petrol pipes from the tank had rotted away. Put a new pump in, (and a new outlet pipe, £95
), New petrol and within a month the pump packed in. Just stripped it out and got the pump running, dumped the new fuel and wiped the tank out with thinners.You wouldn't believe the tar like deposit that came off the inside of the tank.i know ,what in this new unleaded fuel,the body of the new pump was all eaten away,unbelievableI bought one that I was told had stood for 4 yrs, turns out it was 6. Unleaded fuel contains chemicals even ICI haven't heard of. We used to use petrol for washing parts, bare hands and a rag or brush, not a good idea these days. Bloody lethal shit it is now

Oh yes, I used to live south of Alicanti, in land from Guardamar in a place called Ciudad Quesada then moved in land near Aspe off the road to La Romana. Now in Fuerteventura.
gosh you move about abit,strong fortune, in spanish. how do you get on for spares for your range over there

No Rangy over there, got a Clio with nearly 250k klms on the clock, good enough for the driving ability of the Islanders.

Don't get much ice in the Cannaries, that said we had hail stones a few years ago and Mount Teide on Tenerife was inaccessable this winter because of snow.It's in the car parks and on roundabouts that the locals do the most damage.
