managed to get the old horn off a 2a, but was wondering if its an original landrover part??
its got AUTO LITE pressed onto the cover and its received a cheap paint job somewhere along the line....

also was wondering, do they have an earth wire running out of them, or do they earth through the mounting point? - the 2a i got it off only had the one wire running to the connector on the outside....

Doesn't look like mine - but I've got two fitted! At the end of the day a horn is a horn - if it works. Yes, they usually earth through the mounting point.

oh like the old horns that they would have had on the model t fords.

i was looking at getting a truck horn of some kind as well, but like you said too much money/effort to set it up....maybe later!!

where do i mount the horn? - in the landy i got it off it was behind the grill, and im supposing it should be in a series 3? - there just doesnt seem to be any existing holes that line up or are far enough out from the radiator.....

yep your right and im hoping it does work!, but was just really wanting to know what it would sound like!!.....will have to wire it up sometime today....thanks...

ive made a bracket to bolt onto the existing holes so that problems solved, now for the wiring:confused:
it looks like someones ripped a wire out, i have got a brown/black-strip wire running down the indicator stalk and into a loom which runs into the dash...
then off the back of the fuse box i have got one brown wire with an open end that was curled around beside the fuse box.....
when i run a wire from the new horn to this open ended wire, the horn goes...loud.....
what do people suggest, or is there someway i can totally bypass it, because it looks like its been botched somewhere along the line...
im pouring over the diagrams currently but any help would be appreciated...

here we go the horns set up in my landrover.

i have a stromberg carby fitted to it from a holden 186 as its the best upgrade to do, i got a lot more pick up then the standard annoying zenith that was on there, but much much easier to work on no diaphragms, no custom jets just bolt straight on i think i put a 65 main jet in however as they have different sizes and that worked the best, and they are so easy to rebuild only takes me around 10 to 15 mins to strip and rebuild minus cleaning.
running the airfilter that was fitted to that type of carby.

anyway i have two compressors on there the galvanised compressor (made in italy) runs the large horn, and the red compressor near the radiator (hella) runs the smaller horn and the blue backed horn, and the electric bosch horn near the airfilter that i found on the ground and works perfectly, but in all they suck up around 20+ amps when sounded for more then a few seconds. I have to run a relay and use a 20 amp fuse and only sound it for a few seconds and no more as she'll blow the fuse,
i did have a lalizas pressurised boat air horn set up to the compressor, but silly me forgot to glue the asss of it on and she blew the asss off.

Tony.

still good, they are not that loud from inside the vehicle, and the bonnet is shut so that makes a big difference

that centre horn push button is troublesome, better with a push button, that way you dont have to worry about the horn going off for no reason.

why would i have to worry about the horn going off? - its a custom job, so im currently designing a way to work it so that it doesnt twist around the steering wheel......
