Hello Landylovers...
So I bought my first Landy, Freelander 1.8 (I know!!) Head gasket had been done at 60k, now 80k. Current issue, losing a litre or so of water every couple of days (not doing many miles) yellow goo in oil dipstick. Heater not working at all, and generally running like a bag of spanners. It had a full service 500 miles ago...

I'm worried the head gasket has gone again, but garage says not...but things are not right at all! No visible signs of where the water is going, and there's some rusty coloured water splash around the water bottle. No signs of oil in water - it's not staying there long enough!
Any feedback hugely appreciated, this motor, much as I love it, is costing me a bomb!
Cheers in advance :)

Welcome to the forum kellypie, from the symptoms you've described I'd say head gasket or cracked block. Is oil complete mayonnaise or just a bit cos this can sometimes happen with lots of short journeys

Welcome to the loonyzone, Kelly! :)

Try forum search, I think issues with these Kseries are quite common, and it may well have been discussed in detail before.

If you dont get a result with that, try posting a thread about it in the freelander section.

Marmaduke is right, lots of short slow journeys are not usually good for any engine. It shouldnt cause massive water loss, though. If you can fix the coolant leak, try a good blast down the motorway, get it fully heated up and the battery a good charge.

Thanks for your reply Marmaduke...yep there's yellow goo halfway up the dipstick and big blobs under the oil cap, wondered if it's *just* coolant from short journeys as you say..
