Never simple is it?
Thanks though might be getting some where.
Didn't know the 200dti engine block was used for the Range Rover also...

Id speak to glencoyne.

If theres anyone id trust to get this right its them.

At a stab in the dark id say you have stock gauge from the original engine and non matched sender as gauges are pricy , its cheaper to change sender.

have you asked your garage yet? it's their issue imo

thought so about your engine. if it was a fender it would be no hassle

your orig gauge probably uses PRC8593, a rr orig is AMR1712. i think they are different threads.

go and look at the temp sender to see if it has a coloured ring. rr one doesn't

things to try:

your garage might be able to swap the orig defender stat housing over to the rrc and everything will be ok. (not sure if it'll fit- is the sender on the stat on a 200tdi?)

retap the thread to accept the fender.

get some funky conversion sender

i'd also ask steve parker

The garage is in Colchester 2 hours away, it is just easier all round for me to sort out really...

'see if it has a coloured ring' doesn't look like it...

'is the sender on the stat on a 200tdi?'
Don't know, with hindsight I should have identified the other engine before the change.

'i'd also ask steve parker' excuse my ignorance, who is Steve Parker?

tbh, if it's starting to be a right faff one then i'd just buy

VDO Vision Water Temperature Gauge Electrical | Demon Tweeks

VDO Water Temperature Sender For VDO Gauge | Demon Tweeks

LMA Gauge Sender Unit Adaptors | Demon Tweeks

take the sender you have off and see what the thread is for the adapter. job done

or get a thread adapter for the standard 200tdi if you want
Now this looks like the info. I need, thanks, I'm not sure how to confirm the right thread though [emoji15]

right. you might end up ordering a couple of wrong bits.. but feck it.

from that pic of your sender i got https://partsdb.info/autopart/fae/31210

that says 5/8x18 thread. 5/8 is actually the thread for a fender 200tdi as well.

so go and order Temperature Sender Defender 200Tdi PRC8593 Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order. first.

stick it in (if it fits - it should!) and see if that fixes your gauge.
