Well I don't want to hit it too hard seen as I've painted it, and I don't want to have to do it again :eek:

Black sealant was my thought too :D But a last resort if I'm honest.
If I had the handles before I painted I would have checked, but I didn't and now I have problems :doh:
 
Well not a bad day, well actually I say day, it was more afternoon as it ****ed it down all morning.
So got both front doors fitted, then had a jig about with the bulkhead to get it set up.
All went pretty well actually to say I was doing it on me tod.
Will have another play with spacers behind the hinges on final assembly, but they're pretty good as is.
Got most of the body tightened down, other than the roof as it'll have to come off again for paint.
Was kinda hoping it'd look ok as is, but the colour is miles out so got to be done I think.

Didn't bother playing with the door handles, I'll sort them at a later date, as I need to look for some part number, as the little bars from the lock barrel to the door are missing.
But in other news the britpart hinge kit seems good.

Rebuilt the rear hinges with stainless hinge pins.

Then fitted door handle to door and fitted.

Yep, I agree :)
I just don't think this will be one of them. This isn't having mega money spent on it and it isn't exactly a show pony.
More of a do all the mechanical and chassis so it's solid and tidy bodywork up. Which is a lot better than it was, but far from perfect.

Nah, **** slow progress to be fair, but what with the rain, cold weather, early nights, and not being able to find f*ck all it takes as long as it takes.
Shouldn't make you feel **** and slow, should make you realise that you or anybody else can do just the same as I do :)
I'm exactly the same as you and everyone else and don't possess any special skills.
 
So todays progress, not as much as I'd have liked, but hayho.
Got the sills fitted and seatbox in.
All the electrical gubbins ecu/fuse box etc. under the drivers seat connected up.
Cables into battery box, stuck the battery in, purged it a few times and she fired up :D Only ran it for a second as theirs no water or the like in it yet, but nice to hear it running again.
Was surprised the battery had held charge to be honest, after 6-7 weeks sat on a concrete floor, but span over like she'd been started the day before.
Fitted rear wheel arch spats and rear wiper motor.
Cleaned the floor pans up and waxoyl'ed the underneath, will fit them when I've tidied the wiring up a bit.
And that was it, dark again :(
 
yes mate, this year if I'm lucky, next at worst case. Gonna make it big enough to get my landy in and out without having to take the wheels off or the roof...

We have been looking at a unit,35 pound a week each for 3 of us but because there are actually 5 of us and 3 will only be doing their own trucks in it 2 guys r working from it at 35 a week each and the other 3 of us will split the last 35 between us..

Im sure you could find something like that around you where u can make a good go at it mate!

You do right, it's a ballache taking a roof off to just store it.

Yeah, that's ok if you have people who you can trust to share with.
I don't really have friends, and the ones I do have are nothing like me, I.E into lr's.
So it's actually £105 a week, and £5000+ for the year. Not a little outlay if you're on your own.
To be honest I'd rather just build a massive garage in the back yard :eek:
But yeah, I get your point and if I had someone to at least put a third of the costs towards it'd be a lot better.

Haha, I'd love to do a 130dcpu. But nah, I can't go buying another at the mo, and it's huge it'd fill the drive :D
That's the thing, if I was say going 3 ways on that unit it'd be £1800 ish.
Big difference on outlay every month.
Going to try and find one that's cheap though this year, just have hold out. If one ever comes up.
 
dude 500 a month is only slightly higher than if you were to rent a house.

Just see it as your renting a house only instead of it costing you and never seeing any money back you'll be doing jobs and earning pennies to pay for that.
