7.2L (440ci) GM big block, same as the Charger six pack I think, comes with a riser, air scoop, edelbrock carb and two inlet manifolds


415bhp at 4700 rpm and 480ft/lbs at 3500rpm so plenty of torque but I'd probably put in a cam thats better at low revs



Now considering the Rover 3.5 is


169 hp at 5,200 rpm and 210 lb/ft at 2,600 rpm the big block blows it out the water!

not at all Doc 1 is GM and the other is MOPAR/chyrsler no parts are interchangeable

Charger had several six pack options, a 340cid, 383,426,and 440

chevy big blocks was 396, 427, and 454

Well I don't know then......he had it in a caddy coupe de ville but I cant find a 7.2 caddy option but the dodge one does have a 7.2 and the part numbers he had me matched up with all the dodge ones.


I know it was matched to a hydro auto box

71 caddy had 2 engines a 500cid and a 472cid. You need to find the engine number and find out what you got

Doc - Congratulations on you mad purchase.

I think you might be confusing your GM's with your Chryslers

The 440 CI BB is from the Dodge Charger R/T and Challenger and the like - also used in the later Jensen Interceptor, albeit with a milder camshaft

The six-pack was a Chrysler 383 CI engine with three twin-barrel carbs

In the Charger this was known as the Magnum and was fitted to the early Interceptors and some Bristols

Edelbrock do a performer-plus camshaft which gives monster torque off-idle but it will mash most gearboxes - you might have to revert to a 3-speed Chrysler torque-flite 727 as fitted originally to all of the above cars, and also the early RR autos.

I have one with a LR Transfer box already fitted if you are interested - you are welcome to it providing you pay for a pallet but the transfer box is quite new so I would want 150 for that - or else you could fit your own to it.

You should also factor in this engine will be twice as heavy as you RV8 so suspension and brakes will need to be looked at!

Thanks for the info an offer but I won't be using an auto. Can't stand them!

Will be mating the engine to an LT95 and putting this into a 110 so it'll be ok, HD suspension on front should probably hold it!

good strong unit but very crude

I take it you have landed a job shunting 747's around a disused airport?

Or towing a frigate?

Got one sat round back in need of a rebuild so once that's sorted I'll make up an adaptor plate for it and see about getting an overdrive unit


Nah just always wanted a big block and couldn't say no at the price offered ;)

Give Damon of Kingsley Cars a call - he has loads of the LT95's with and without OD sitting in his yard - have a lookat his website and you will see why.

Big Blocks really are great - but hilariously expensive to run...................

Love it, been for a drive in my v8 yesterday- told partner it was round the block, but couldn't help test repairs to next town.

Oh and D3 power mode and some beans

No doubt it'll bankrupt me but if it gives 25mpg on the motorway I can live with that!
 
did you get your series finished doc?

if its from a caddy it should be a GM motor and not a 440 mopar like the others have said.

Will it fit width ways in a landy? not sure if you have the suspension turrets like you do in a RRC but there may not be enough distance between them to fit a big block in?
