So I fitted a new rear height sensor, reset all the heights with the tools listed in how to. But still it wants to go up to highest ride height randomly, checked for faults and there are non.

It also takes ages to lower down from when it sends itself up. Its now starting to annoy the hell out of me. Oh and when I go over 50 for it to lower down that works like a dream and never tries to go up by itself.

So any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Wammers I didn't spot that will go and check.

Datatek is cleaning conectors on the ECU or on the valve block, apologies but just need to understand the locations etc.

Also is the driver pack the EAS ECU?

Cheers

Wammers, found the article. can you give me a more specific location? Do I need to remove the carpet or is it behind one of the plastic bits?

Sorry but I can be a bit fik sometimes for locating stuff :D

EAS ECU is under the passenger seat, unless the carpet is wet you needn't look at that. Connectors to look at are in the EAS box under the bonnet plus the one's Wammers mentioned, the driver pack is in the EAS box as is the compressor and valve block. You could try running with the cover of the box off for a few days to see if that helps by reducing the temperature in the box.

its behind the plastic trim in the passenger footwell, just in front of the door

Just checked mine out of interest and despite it being 2002 model (so for a P38, fairly new :)) and no wet or damp carpets, mine was surprisingly corroded! Just had to get some fine wet/dry wrapped around a very small screwdriver to clean the contacts.

I hope that wasn't the cause of my annoying suspension issue of it sinking whilst driving coz I'd tried everything else and just ordered a spare (used) driver pack too! If it was, there's a lesson there somewhere ;)

Thanks for the tips, will look at mine as my suspension has a mind of it's own as well. Like, in the morning the EAS warning lights are on, but the suspension rises from access mode and also sitting at the lights in neutral, the suspension rises a little:confused:

Every time the vehicle speed goes below 1 MPH both front valves open to equalise the pressure across the front axle. If one side is slightly higher than the other, so has more pressure in the bag, the front will drop slightly at that side. The other side will rise slightly. Then the suspension will adjust to compensate for load. Suggest you put it on diag and see if you have any stored fault codes. What do you mean by warning lights are on. How many?

Cheers Wammers. I got the Rangie last week, so still learning. The warning light in question is the display shows 'EAS fault' and the warning light showing the vehicle with an arrow below it. They do go off after 5 minutes or so. I have a Maxi Scan (I think that's what it's called and some freeware stuff but have not tried them on the P38 as yet.

It won't work forget it. PM Datatek on here and get a cable and EAS unlock software for a few quid. You can do your own EAS settings then. You do need a laptop to use it though.

It should not drop to access height ovenight. If the airbags are original, they will be leaking, they have a design life of 7/8 years 80K miles.

ok guys after a weeks holiday I have now had a look at this tonight and believe the white connector is where the problem lies. Taking it apart it was badly corroded but using the wifes nail file I was able to clean the pins but can't get into the holes with anything. So with the car running and at normal height if I move the white plug I can make it rise, so this isn't good. Should I just cut the blocks off and crimp on some connectors to make the joins?

Cheers

Think that maybe a good idea if they are that bad. I used those teeth flossing brushes you can get with contact cleaner for cleaning out the female connectors.
