A simple, cheap mod that i would strongly recommend!

Hi guys,

its the old trick of sound proofing again, and i couldn't help but think that paying alot of money for sound proofing was pointless with the way i get in my truck covered in ****, crap, mud and all manner of things so looking for cheap ways of doing it i decided that a camping roll matt would be a good idea, twinned with a £8 adhesive spray from B&Q i set about cutting it to shape and the difference is unbelievable! you can see in my pic that i have only done the seat boxes so far on top, and it already makes so much of a difference, no whine at all! So i would strongly reccomend you do it, but my top tips are as follows;
1- Spray adhesive onto matt and metal and leave for 2 mins to go tacky and THEN stick to each other.
2- remove all the seats and back rests, then re bolt on top. holds down that little bit more along with the glue!

I will be doing the bulkhead, footwells and the tunnel soon!

I have been using this stuff for years in alot of my old classics, its great for soundproofing and also for insulation, I done every panel in my VW campervan and it made it warm in winter and cool in summer, those camping mats are great...

i was thinking the exact same thing, i was looking at my footwells and how close the exhaust is the other side, just mm's and thats like 250c

Indeed, not just flammable but it will melt if vehicle catches, will it stick to you etc etc etc, toxic gases..

You pay your money and you take your chance...are cheap floor mats any different ?

I am impressed it makes a difference, I ruled most sound matting as ****e .... I wonder if its less effective not stuck down.. thats the main reason I havnt fitted.

No problem guys, i still need to do the roof, near the bulkhead, maybe the floor and the bell housing surround, but so far this has done me wonders, to start with i thought my ears had popped!

There's a chap that does the auto jumbles. He has huge sections if dense foam stuff you can roll up for about £12-£15. Have bought several with the intentention or doing the entire inside of mine. Certainly if I do the back the put a chequer plate tub liner noise should be significantly less!

I got myself 4 camping mats today and covered the footwells, tunnel and bulkhead bits i could get to easy and only used two rolls. Very good results very impressed, only problem is i can here rattles now that i couldn't hear over all the noise before
