since the ground was dry and the weather was fine and sort of warm today i thought id get on with a few fiddly bits and detailing on the rear tub simply because i cant lose anything if its bolted and screwed back onto the vehicle





ive been waiting to see this next view since i refitted the rear axle back on and noticed i have got some touching up to do on the rear chassis rails but generally its turned out pretty neat





the reason i have gone to this extent on just the back half alone is so when i get to the front half i have a marker of quality to aim for and match up to just to make sure if i get fed up with doing the front and lose a bit of interest i can look at the back and see what im capable of basicaly telling myself not to lose faith in why im doing this

hey hey hey got a bit carried away with the bugger today i was only gonna make a bit of a start on stripping the front end and err well ummm





just for the challenge and sakes of something to do when it rains what do you lot reccon me chances are of getting this working again









now ive ended up with all manner of little bits to do in the shed aswell as the main big things oh happy days

for gods sake i just wish boto****et was more reliable as ive managed to strip the heater blower down and had a fair ammount of fun trying to clean out all the rust and crap and got a few pics along the way ill try and upload them later if it plays ball but for now a damn good virus check and hd defrag i think

Theres a few S1's and 2's running around here and I love watching them go past, they've just got so much character, the local landy garage owner has a fully restored 1952 S1 and its a beauty

I need to paint my axles and wheels at some point this year. What did you strip the wheels back with to get into the awkward angles?

dr evil cheers fer the invite i cant wait to get on the lanes meself specialy where i used to live on all me old haunts cowm quarry at the top of whitworth bordering on bacup is one of me favourites the last time i went up there i ended up in leigh quarry and 1 of only 8 landy owners at that time to get into what is known locally as the grand canyon ( a 1/2 mile perfectly flat bottomed gorge carved out when the quarry was in use by blasting its 300ft walls 500 ft wide its a hell of a place )

now ive bullied me pics onto boto****et i can get on to showing the fun i had in me shed as ive spent the biggest part of the day sorting life issues out

firstly when i stripped the front down yesterday this cought my attention and as it was siezed i though well i might aswell try since it looks like ive got to get a new one so i went for it in the shed



now after spending a good half hour removeing stripped screws bolts and a verry brittle fan without breaking it i ended up with this the guts



now after a lot of swearing burnt fingers heating it up to get the stator out and froggong abbout it was time for a good clean up and recentre on the old lathe
i started by making a custom tailstock centre for the shaft out of a bit of brass bar i had in the scraps bin





now its all set up ligned up centred to 0.000157 on the micrometre running at 3250rpm i tickled it clean with the 45 degree point face tool with some promising results







if this doesnt work ive not lost anything appart from a little pride but learned another lesson the hard way

You need a new one or you got one on the way ?

If you need one give gibsons of kendal a ring, they've got a breaker S3 with an aftermarket one…….if its cheap and it'll do the job and I can drop it in manchester next week

its ok about the heater blower as its one of the items at the back end of my list due to its size and structural insignificance its mainly a bit of fun trying to make it work again

ive got me own idea on inventing me own heater blower if i fail with this one

i have a couple of 12 volt waterproof bathroom vent fans im eyeing up in the other shed they dont half shift some wind !!

ive also found another 12 volt motor im considering retrofitting into the existing fan cowling as its got 2 speeds normal and warp speed :5bwilly_nilly::5bwilly_nilly:

Johnny looking good The picture of your rear axle with the brake line from left to center looks like you could crush them in you back into some thing and hit the axle. Might want to put a bend on it and get on top of the axle.

the brake lines are on me list of next years playthings but for now ill bend it over the axle cheers mate
