Whats the bleddy point of that then? And if you int got one ('cus its buggered) can you provide a 'steering security thing' to secure the vehicle wiff????

It's bad enough having to fix the hand brake warning light

Don't know why they're checkin em cos (according to some) they're easy enuff to break off anyway.

If you can prove you're locking the steering wi summat strong they shuld leave you alone.

No, it's coming in wiff the new MoT changes ---- apparently...

"Dysfunctional or absent steering locks, where fitted as standard, will now cause the vehicle to fail - as will missing or damaged dust covers and suspension ball joints."

just been reading some of this...

i think my disco was originally fitted with abs.. got wires in the top of my front swivels and a bracket behind the air box.. and the brakes looked to have been replumbed..

but nothing connected and nothing in the bracket behind airbox..

its a 97 xs 300tdi disco..

if the abs has been removed am i gonna have a problem come mot time?

thats just bloody unbelieveable looks to me theyre just trying to get cars off the road now so they can ave us all driving these ****ty lecci shoebox cars tw@ts

So how do you fix a steering lock?

I took my steering wheel off the weekend - there were 2 plastic prongs at the base of the steering wheel which 'locked' into place when the key is removed.
Assuming yours are of a similar design, it sounds like they've snapped at some point in their life, therefore a new steering wheel is required.
I say this as it didn't look like it came apart.

My steering wheel is a non-airbag type on a 1994 Discovery 300tdi.

:D

Wot of it is totally ****ered :(

i would guess that a failure of the steering lock would be caused by summat breaking.. if that broken bit is still in there floating about, it may lodge in some critical place and lock the steering whilst driving..

just guessin at what someone trying to justify their mahoosive salary at vosa would think up..
