Hello from Liskeard

Hello all.

I was just about to replace a well used V70 with yet another estate car when I had the chance to try out a Freelander TD4 for the day.

I've never even driven a Land Rover before and really liked it. It was much quicker and better handling than I expected and now I'm really tempted.

Decisions, decisions.... I've got about 6 weeks before I need to commit one way or the other. What do you reckon?!

"Gaylander"? Any chance that these aren't taken too seriously by Land Rover folk? Are there problems with them that I should know about?

I think people here know way less about fl2's than any landrover . i have owned mine for just 5 years give or take a month . 124,000mls when I got it Very close to 180k atm .
Would have thought you would get more for your td4 money , cheaper road tax too ..

edit : the fl2 does have a much higher NCAP rating.I hope you can get some advice,when you do have to fix it.

I've got a near neighbour driving a Defender 110 and 90, so I thought it might have been you, but it turns out it's someone else with a 110 and 90 near Liskeard

Currently driving a silver V70 for work (totally unremarkable, but a good workhorse) and a white Focus RS for when I'm not at work.

Can't say I'm any the wiser. Then again, I make a habit of ignoring ovlovs and dagenham dustbins.

Volvos are cool (had a tuned S70T5- P303XNJ

RS has same engine as sounds awsome with a straight pipe.

I was a bit unfair on the Volvo, it's got the 185bhp D5 5 cylinder diesel, which is quick and makes a great noise. The RS uses the same basic (albeit petrol) motor and makes some great noises. Recently Dyno tested at 308.2bhp in standard trim, so I'm very happy with that

The police pulled me over in Liskeard about 3 months ago; they attempted to pinch me for an illegal exhaust system on the RS - it took me about 15 minutes to convince them that it was the standard factory exhaust :doh: I now carry a brochure in the car with a picture of the standard exhaust system in it!

That diesel is actually a audi 5pot engine.

All they can do with the pipe is get you to a MOT re-test......My 20v 5pot quattro has no silencers just 3inch straight through
