Would kitting it out increase the value substantially ?

Well I paid £1,500 for it from the daughter of somebody who died and left it to her in a Will, but she had no use for it as she has a 2008 Disco. I did a bit of research and it looks like I got a bargain.

I've no idea if it was a Commercial Sex Worker... Presuming that is what you mean ? Haha.

Would kitting it out increase the value substantially ?

Along with my friend, I run a small car dealership (I barely even consider it work, just something to keep me sane) and this morning I picked up a 1991 Defender 110 2.5 Diesel, white in colour and in alright condition. No dents or anything, just a bit dull and scratched. With some polishing...

    We're Free Landing now!

Well I can't use that excuse, as we have a double parallel drive... Maybe my '01 Transit will block my Disco off one day, by accident of course!

    We're Free Landing now!

It gets the seal of approval! Even I don't get that, so she must really like it.

    We're Free Landing now!

Or the wife is anyway. This morning I picked up a 2001 Land Rover Freelander TD4 2.0 Station Wagon with 97K on the clock and a good deal of service history (oil changes every 10K, new brake pads at 95K, new radiator at 89K) which surprised me, because after getting it home on the trailer I...

    Are they worth it ?

Well I said if he could go down to 3 Grand I'd take it. He thought about it for a while and tried to get me up to £3,200 but eventually gave in. I'm going out first thing tomorrow to pick it up. That should get me out of the dog house for a few days at least!

    Are they worth it ?

Thought I'd update this thread. I phoned up and it is an elderly man selling it as he's given up driving. He said it has a few months MOT and a years tax, but it is 100 miles away. I've decided to take the risk and go and see it. I'll have to take my 1989 Chevrolet Carprice (so much...

    Are they worth it ?

Doesn't sound too bad then. I checked the local paper today and there is a 2001 Freelander TD4 5 Door with 97,000 miles on the clock for £3,500. It looks in good condition from the picture but they can be deceiving. I'll give the person a phone and see what he/she says, and ask where...

    Are they worth it ?

The wife has always wanted a Freelander as she works as a home help, and a lot of her clients are little old ladies who live in cottages at the end of muddy lanes and such, so her 1991 Rover 827 SLi naturally sometimes gets stuck and I have to go and tow her out. I was just wondering if they...

    What type of oil ?

I'll drop by Asda some time and get that cheap stuff then! Thanks.

    What type of oil ?

Should I use in my 1980 Series lll 2.25 Petrol with around 100K on the engine ? It has been so long I can't remember what I used to use.

The Grumpy Old Git Is Here

That was what I was thinking. I'll get it fixed up by the end of 2012, and that is a promise.

Is it hard to replace the transmission ?

Your Landy is very nice SpringDon!

Would you recommend oil additives ?

Oh, well it doesn't get any heavy work, just snow driving. My '94 Peugeot 405 1.9 Turbo Diesel (which I also bought new) does get heavy work though. It is constantly lugging things around on trailers and such, but it still looks good and runs great with over 300,000 miles on the clock...

Would you recommend oil additives ?

Well I drive the Disco very gently, partly because I didn't want to "hurt it" unnecessarily and because I use it in snow mostly and can't really gun it. I do give it a red line for a good time every now and then to keep the exhaust clear and stop anything clogging up. I also let it warm up...

Would you recommend oil additives ?

Ah, brilliant! How long do these engines last usually with good maintenance ? The body of the Disco is in mint condition, and if the engine will last a long time, I will be very happy to keep on driving it until I go to my grave.

Would you recommend oil additives ?

I've never used an oil additive in my life, but it has been 2,900 miles since the last oil change on the Disco 300TDi, and I change the oil every 3,000 miles with 10W40 Semi-Synthetic, and for the 52,000 miles she has on her, it has worked great. Not a puff of smoke, and fires right up on the...

Is it hard to replace the transmission ?

She's just a regular civilian Landy, which probably makes my job more fiddly. I've got a friend who also was a mechanic at the same time as me, so perhaps us two old fogeys will manage to do the job with limited broken bones. Before I even think about removing the transmission I'd better...

Is it hard to replace the transmission ?

I have a 1980 Series lll 2.25 S4 Petrol Land Rover with a blown transmission that has been sitting since 1993, and I was recently thinking about getting it going again. Is it relatively easy to change the transmission ? I'm an ex mechanic, so I could do it even if it were hard, but I was...
