    4203 Perkins

A 6247 would have unbelievable torque but you might end up snapping half shafts in 2wd. permamnent 4wd layouts are better as the torque is (generally) spread between the 4 wheels. The main problem is weight of the engine - a 6247 would be very heavy, you may need v heavy duty springs at the...

    Perkins 4203 HELP

Hi can anyone help me . I'm installing a 4203 in my ex mil 2A 109 (with 900s) and find that the engine mountings on the chassis are slightly out. The fabricated mounts that came with the engine only slightly solve the problem, but on the far side the chassis bracket (unaltered) rubs on the oil...

Defoe, interested in what you said. Does your man Pagan do Series 3s? I am trying to find out what VRNs my landrovers should be - one doesn't have one at all, and the other's vrn isn't regisered with DVLA, and its close to 1973. Grateful for his contact details.

I'm doing the same with mine; ring Gaydon - 01926 645076. The bloke is incredibly helpful - told me the date mine was completed, and the date it was despatched to its first owners, for nothing; although of course you'd need documentary evidence for the DVLA. Stops you spending money when you...

    Engine and gearbox swap

Possibly, but I was addressing the question posed, namely, what is involved in putting a s3 engine and box into a 2a, which is a different problem to putting the 2a lumps into a s3. ATFQ......

Which part was bollocks slob? I think you'll find it is factually correct.

    Series 3 Voltage stabilizer

That's exactly what mine did on the multi meter, which is why I bought the solid state one - its made a complete difference; now I have total faith in the readings of both gauges.

    Engine question 7:1 or 8:1??

Indeed; when I said headspace I meant the volume of the mixture at tdc.

    Series 3 Voltage stabilizer

Mad Hat - 10 Volts is in the manual, and also confirmed it with both of my multimeters. The LUCAS ones are original yes but constantly swtitching current on and off so that effect is 10 volts (ISH). The great thing about the solid state items of ebay are that they maintain a rock steady...

    2.5 petrol into a 2A

Mad hat - Thanks - sorry for the delay. Presumably you have a 90 petrol exhaust/inelt manifold - if so what down pipe did you use. The flange is bigger than the series one?

    Engine and gearbox swap

There's loads to look out for; the clutches are completely different and the s3 bellhousing won't fit unless you take out the strengthening fillet on the left hand side of the gearbox cross member.Engines are bascially the same but make sure you have a s3 clutch with your engine. You can do...

    Series 3 Voltage stabilizer

It's nominally 10 volts if is in good nick. You can get a solid state one for £8 quid on ebay - excellent ourchase, and don't pack up with time. I've got 2 for my vehs.

    Engine question 7:1 or 8:1??

the compression ratio is the swept volume plus the headspace added together then divided by the headspace.

    Oil presure guage pipe

The tee pice must have a coarse thread as the thread in the filter housing requires same. the adapter for the pipe will be a much finer thread like that shown in the pic above.

    2.5 petrol into a 2A

Hi, I'm trying to get a 2.5 petrol into my 2A 109, which has a series 3 box. I thought it would go straight in, in some some respects it does, but the engine mounts, exhaust, water pump, air filter trunking and fuel pump arrangements are all different. Any suggestions as to workable solutions...

The threads in the flywheel housing are 3/8 unc, the threads on the other end of the studs are 3/8 unf, and therefore so are the nuts.
