TD4 Pulley, minor play, advice needed

Hello all, Could someone with knowledge on these engines give me a bit of advice on the situation we have at the minute. The pulley circled in the picture started a little whistle last night at engine speeds above 1500rpm. I sprayed the pulley with some penetrating oil and the sound died...

    Harwoods Crawley land rover.

Get a thumbs up from me! I needed a radio code and the service guy there was a top nana and gave it me for free, no worries. He then even volunteered to come out and enter the code for me! Score! Hadn't realised that beeping was "low battery" warning (Gigglepin 4x4 didn't know that the other...

TD4 clutch master or slave cylinder fail?

Got a td4 facelift 2004 with 127000 miles on the clock. If you press the clutch in slowly it will remain on the floor. If you push it in at normal speed it functions just fine. There is an inch or so of pedal travel before you get any real feel in it but i wouldn't say bite point is low...

    PF Jones Diesel (Manchester) -UPDATE.

You may notice that the original thread has been removed. This is (in part) due to the situation being resolved. A breakdown in communication between them and I meant I didn't hear from them. I spoke with their MD today and he provided an explanation as to why 2 of the 4 injectors failed -...

running higher wattage high beam h7 bulbs

I ordered some 80w bulbs for our freebie. The supplier sent 100w. My only concern is that there is a warning on the box saying the circuit needs to be rated at 20 amps minimum. I make the draw of each bulb less than 8.5amps so with a circuit fused at 15 amps I see no issue but would welcome...

Turning the key several times to start TD4

Hi All, Our Freelander had been struggling to start recently. I suspected injectors as glow plugs and crankcase breather filter had been changed, I cleaned the EGR valve and checked fuel was free from water. Fuel filter was changed 8K miles ago, but will be changing again soon. So I tried...

    TD4 Crankcase breather filter missing.

Went to change the crankcase breather filter on the TD4 on Sunday. Removed the casing only to be greated by nothing... No filter installed. Probably been running for the last 8K miles without one. Installed new seals and a Land rover element (will upgrade to the BMW one at some point). I can...

    Freelander facelift interior trim paint.

On the Freelander Facelift, the interior uses some 'champagne' coloured trim. If some has become scuffed or chipped, you can repaint it really easily. Popping along to your local Halfrauds, you can pick up a can of "Ford Champagne Gold" and it is near as dammit the same colour as the trim :P...

    Freelander Facelift heating control lighting

Hi all, We've had our Freelander for a few weeks now, but last night was the first time driving in pitch dark. Although the instruments and outside world were bathed in light, the centre console beneath the CD player was unlit, meaning we couldn't identify the heater/blower controls. All 3...

    Freelander owner from Biggin Hill

Hi all, Bought a 2004 Freelander TD4 S a few weeks back. Very pleased so far. Clean bill of health with the car - only problem was a front propshaft bearing rubber had split. 90 minutes and £280 lighter, Dakar out in Swanley had compelted the work, and the car is now good as gold. Unlike many...
