Fabulous information - just what I was looking for. I was all up for clambering into the back, unloading the boot through the car and removing the door card to hunt down the problem. Off came the badge, on went the WD40 and problem sorted!!!

Thanks chaps. It was the ride height sensor, which was still attached but had broken on the bottom mounting. It had then blown the compressor fuse! Marc

Henry I'll check the height sensor. It does nothing at all when starting - just sits down on that side at all times, running or off! Tried numerous times to let it rise with all doors shut. Offside stays up, Nearside stays down. Marc

Hi I knocked the suspension lift button on the dash yesterday and can't get it to reset. The nearside only has dropped right down on the rear and won't rise either on the switch, or automatically as I guess it should. The dash light comes on when I turn the ignition back on as if it knows it...

Cheers Aaron yes, it feels like it engages gear, and there's a light feel of contact through it, so I guess half shaft sounds right, with there being some contact between the two surfaces at the break. I'll check the hubs first. No cebtre seat so that'sll be an easy check! Thanks Marc

Hi Went to pull away in my Series 3, big clunck, and no drive in any gear. Didn't get anything in four wheel drive either. Transmission handbrake inoperative too. Gear stick goes in, but then nothing. Can anyone tell me where to look first. Cheers Marc
