For a while when I turned on the demist button the wipers would stop if on and the alarm would sound. That happened for two years and was bearable, but suddenly it has sorted itself. In its place, the blowers now choose when they will or won't work.
I'm nearly resigned to paying an auto electrician to look for whatever it is, probably at great cost with only a chance of success.
Thought I would see if it's a known event first though - maybe the heater control board?

Get into the earth points and see if you have corrosion on one or more.

Interior points are behind the kick panels in either side's footwells.
