    110 Rear Propshaft Alignment

Ok - sits back and waits for RTFM abuse... but I did - just not carefully enough :-( ... On page 47-1 in the WSM it shows nice clear arrows identifying the alignment of the sliding member and the prop shaft - and I have to say the arrow on the body of the propshaft is exactly as shown in the...

    Speedo rubber bung

Not sure if this is Defender only, Military only, or Series as well - hence I do as told and post here! Coming towards the end of a major overhaul I decided to update the back lighting on the binnacle instruments. I managed to remove the green lenses from the Temp and Fuel gauges by brute...

    Looking for an impact wrench

I've had the 12v cigar lighter ones and they don't really have the grunt, and they don't last. I've got an air one but it doesn't do too well on my compressor, even though it's a reasonable size, but my Clarke 240v one is brilliant and undefeated. I carry a breaker bar and 27mm socket for wheel...

    Radio Aerial Replacement

I taped string to the old cable at the radio end of the old cable and pulled it through into the engine compartment, the used the string to pull the new cable back to the radio. Hope that helps

    4 bolt steering box

The box itself is not bad - the real bar-steward is getting the drop arm off it - I ended up taking the box to my friendly Landy garage and they took it off for me. It's all in the workshop manual - if you haven't got it drop me a line and I can copy the appropriate pages for you. Most of it...

    Electric pre heater fitting

Not sure how the Disco turns the heater off but many cars do it by a valve in the heater pipes or heater that simply stops the flow of water through the matrix. If you put the pre-heater in the flow or return from the vehicle heater you need to make sure that the valve is on when you leave the...

    v8 fuel line replacement

I assume when you say gas you mean petrol - I wouldn't want to put gas gas through rubber unless it was specifically rated for it! I've done my petrol 110 3.5 V8 with stainless braided hose off EBay. The hose is 400840847613, clips are 121511712843, and the end caps and clamps are...

Disco v8 viscous fan and alternator

I've got a viscous coupling from my 110 3.5 V8 Carb going spare. The book says it's ERC5708, but LandroverWorkshop says that's from a 2.25 petrol. I've had a quick count of the pots and mine is definitely a V8 (as confirmed by petrol receipts!). I can send you piccies if that's any help...

    headlight power washer

A sponge and some elbow grease? Sorry - it's late, it's Christmas eve, and my ex-MoD 110 doesn't have such luxuries (or power steering, or wind down windows, or even a running engine at the moment!) But Happy Christmas anyway, and I hope you sort out what you need!

What engine have I got here?

Have a look at Land Rover, Range Rover engine numbers - by Glencoyne 4x4 (Thetford) - it shows you where to look for the number and which engine it refers to. Good luck!

    Plastic valve

It's a Vacuum Delay Valve and the part number for the V8 is apparently ERC6997, and ERC8119 for the 2.5. According to Land Rover Workshop its about £30 for the V8 and £65 for the blue 2.5 one but you can get the V8 on ebay for about £25 - a good search might find a sensible price for the blue...

Ex-RAF 90, Indicators and Hazards SNAFU

The flasher unit is located behind the fuse panel below the dash - screws each end and I'm pretty certain it's the one on it's side. Check the MoD light switch first and if you get stuck give me a shout and I've got a copy of the wiring diagrams for the MoD version. Good Luck!

    Using 20L oil drums

For transferring oil I use a funnel and a steady hand, plus kitchen towel in case the DTs set in! Filled my gearbox with a length of hose and a funnel from above by pulling back the rubber gaiter on the gear levers, and a mate inside to pour while I waited below to shout stop! Not perfect but...

    Air Impact Wrench

After a naff air driver experience I bought one of these: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-cew1000-electric-impact-wrench Best sixty-odd quid I ever spent (even if mine is black)!

    CSW rear sliding window rattle!

My front sliding windows rattled like mad as the felt was totally knackered. The LR replacement felt worked out at a small (or medium) fortune but I found this felt strip at £2.50 for 6 ft. It folded in half and fitted the channels perfectly. Now there are no more rattles, and even better no...
