hi all, im new to off roading. my disco 97 300tdi is still box standard. What should i buy as a starter to start off roading etc.

Proper recovery points, some friends to go with that have a clue ... seriously.

Don't buy anything till you get a bit more clue of what off-roading you want to do, it'll save you buying different stuff later.

i,ve seen all sorts off stuff that i like and want. just wondering what i really need as a biginner like lift kits, bumpers etc. I cant seem to find thread.

yu dont need any of that stuff. if yu want to spend yu money, recovery points and breather extensions. Never go out on your own.

none of my friends have 4x4's, so i think im stuck in the mud all ready lol.
But its something im going to get into. Was looking at the camel trophys on you tube and it looks real good fun.

Whereabouts in the world are you?

As Paul D said; you absolutely need to go out with a group of experienced people and get a good idea as to what green laning etc is all about before you start diving into purchases. And never go laning alone. Ever.

Im live in derby, was thinking about doing one of those course's to get the feel and confidence. need to learn when to use hi and low etc. it will be a good experience for me i think.

Where are you, roughly?

Keep an eye out in the green-laning section for meets that are closest to you and ask to tag along. You'll learn more and enjoy it immensely with the knowledge that you won't be stuck in some bog on your own .. LZ never leaves a Landy behind .. ;)

I learnt by being shown what to do whilst out laning by them on ere.....everyone ive met has been great and when ive got stuck or stuck with what to do theyve always leant a hand :)

As already said recovery points front and rear. I know they're the boring bits and you want the knobbly tyres and snorkel and 3" lift etc but they're no use if ya stuck and you can't be recovered, AND you will get stuck AND you will need recovering. Thats a promise
