The first thing you need to do is find the multi quote button.

Its the blue one with the "+ sign on it next to the "quote" button. It will save you having to do a new post to reply to everyone, just press it and then on your last quote press the quote button and then reply under everyones posts. ;)

Regards the off roading or laning. do what they say. :D

Recovery points, Snorkle, All terrains or Mud terrain tyres, steering guard, shackles, recovery strap minimum would say never go anywhere by yourself until you have the confidence + no fun going solo. :)

Going solo can be o.k as long as you are experienced enough and know the lane you are driving backwards and forwards and every lump and bump.

Remember a byway or green lane is totally different coming back.

Your always going to get a mixed variety of opinions depending on peoples experience/ prefered type of off roading.

I do mostly pay and play stuff with the odd RTV trial thrown in and greenlane.

From experience and looking at what others use over the years I would recommend doing as most say and going out with others who know what theyre doing.

Leave the truck at home the first time so you can see what its all about and ask questions. Get involved in some recoveries so that you understand what to do and what is safe.

Once you have some confinence, I would look to making some mods which will make the difference between getting stuck all the time which can dishearten you and having a great day getting stuck occasionally, but most importantly enjoying it!

Steering guards pay dividends and give you strong front recovery points, a 2 or 3 inch lift with some rear dislocation cones will allow you to fit the minimum size tyres most use (235x85 r16) which also means your axles are lifted out the ruts the same amount as most others.

If you start feeling confident and have a diesel, water will eventually be something youll want to drive. A raised air intake which is well sealed when fitted will stop you hydro locking you engine which in the worst case can ruin an engine.

All the above is acheivable with a £1000 ish budget if you shop around and will make a huge difference.

Good luck and welcome to off roading. Your gonna love it!

have you done any mods .... have you now got some recovery points and a rope.:)

As already said recovery points front and rear. I know they're the boring bits and you want the knobbly tyres and snorkel and 3" lift etc but they're no use if ya stuck and you can't be recovered, AND you will get stuck AND you will need recovering. Thats a promise

He ain't lying, I have a nice spec'd 90 locker and LSD special tracks and winch among other bits, I got stuck I could not recover my self with the winch as the only tree within reach I pulled down,

If you have a disco then don't use the tie down points to recover you Landy,

Also be carefull who recovers you as there's sone right idiots out there with kinetic ropes that Are going to kill someone,

Could someone tell me where the best place is for front recovery points on a disco 1?
Cheers

Jate rings fixed to chassis, steering guard with built in recovery points or HD front bumper with recovery points are your options.

Jate rings easiest and cheapest but bot much fun attaching shackles when stuck 2' in mud !

,

Get yourself a ground anchor, first thing I bought after getting my winch. What good's a winch if you've got nothing to attach it to?
