As already said recovery points front and rear. I know they're the boring bits and you want the knobbly tyres and snorkel and 3" lift etc but they're no use if ya stuck and you can't be recovered, AND you will get stuck AND you will need recovering. Thats a promise

lol wheres best place to get them from? looking forward to getting stuck and dirty

Before spending any money at all, identify whether you want to go off roading, or green laning.
There's a difference

you not want a slice of my tasty mouth melting cake? what cake you got?

Oh Newbie you have much to learn, and not just about off roading 110W is LZ's official master baker, oh and something similar when she is reading that utter crap "50 shades of Gay"

:whoosh::whoosh:

I bought my 1st landie late last year, so heres my 2 pence as a fellow noob. I live near Leek so fairly close to you.

* You definately need some rear and front recovery points before you do any off roading. A towbar is OK for a rear point.

* You definately need a recovery rope and a couple of D shackles. Get a good nylon (not kinetic) rope from a reputable source. Nothing worse than getting stuck and then asking the guy whos helping to tow you out if you can use his rope and dirty it all up!

* make sure your hi/lo and diff lock works.

* depending upon where you go you will be fine for a bit on your road tyres, but start saving for some mud terrains or at least AT's although these can limit what type of off roading you do.

* you definately dont need a lift kit or snorkel. your landie suspension will be fine for 90% of anything you do.

* I think on your first time out id definately do to an organised pay and play as there will be loads of people who will be more than willing to pull you out if you get stuck which takes the stress out!

Near me (so fairly near you) are:-

Silverdale P&P 19th August in Newcastle-under-Lyme
(YOU NEED MUD TERRAINS FOR THIS, ITS IMPOSSIBLE ON AT's OR ROAD TYRES!)

Weston Coyney / Tick Hill 26th August just off A50 near Stoke
(This place is a disused sandstone quarry so its easily doable on AT's. Dont go through the big lake without a snorkel lol! some guy did last weekend and broke his disco)

Holymoorside 19th August
Never been, its on the list!

Biggin Quarry 30th September
Never been, its on the list!

my mrs is reading that book aswell, its a good book- i get piece lol :high5:

Go out in the disco as it is with some other ladies. U will be surprised how good they are standard tyres may let it down but there brilliant off roaders as standard.

good tyres, some nice people with a recovery vehicle, recovery points, steering guard, diff guards. That'll do for now :) - tyres first tho, you wont go far without them. Dont get retreads unless the vehicle is spending most of its time off road.
