Hello all , in my opinion the main cause of IRD/FINAL DRIVE/VCU FAILURE is mismatched tyres , most new owners of the freelander 1 when they get one have not got a clue of the unique 4x4 permanent drive train , with the viscous coupling unit , i was one , it beggers beleif how main dealers , the large garage chains ,and tyre dealers also have not got a clue , once you know the score fine , you can advise others as i have done , i love my fl1 , and i bet theres a few more on ere that do , it ****es me right off when i say i have a freelander , and i am told they suffer from drive train failure WHY because theres a lack of forthcoming information on the tyre issue REPLACE ALL 4 WITH THE SAME SIZE/MAKE/BRAND/MODEL 4 brand new tyres is a pain but cheeper by far than a replacement IRD/VCU/FINAL DRIVE am i right or am i wrong :)
