suitable earth wire?

Hi,

I have a problem with the earth on my 200 TDI so intend to run a set of new earths from:

(1) battery to battery tray
(2) The battery to starter motor
(3) starter motor to chassis
(4) Chassis to bulkhead

Does anyone know what type of wire i need to get, i.e. what strand does it need to be and does anyone know of a supplier?

Go into any auto factors and buy earth straps - you can get them in various lengths and various connectors. Or am I missing something to why you need to make them?

use armor cable like the powerlines,they last 3 times longer....

35mm copper welding cable would be what i'd go for, but then I'm a welder and have got that sort of stuff kicking about

Have a look here you should be able to get the cable and any connectors you need.

Wouldnt use that bunch of ****ers again myself, after a two month ****about to get a parcel delivered. Vehicle Wiring Products, named and shamed

If you know an electrician he could do it for you

I simply use welding cable, as mentioned above, then just crimp the eyes on each end ( a decent electrician will have a crimp tool )

If you want me to make some for you, just let me know

All i need to know is the length of each cable, and the size of the hole you need in the ends ( depends on what size bolts you plan to use M6, M8 etc )

I would do it at materials cost price, ( i could price them at the wholesalers if you are interested ), plus the postage.

Or you could collect if you want west mids area

Although your cheapest way is if you have an electrician as a mate, and call in a favour
