Reversing mirror problem

Hi guys
Every time put the car into reverse the side mirror should dip, but at the moment nothing, just a click from around the glove box area, any ideas!

As I recall it is controlled by the computer under the driver seat, and adjust the mirrors according to the memory settings for the person driving. Have you selected a different memory setting for the seat that has not had the mirrors adjusted accordingly. Try a different memory setting for the seat.

I'd do a hard reset first. How old is the battery? If it's more than 4 years, then it will cause all sorts of strange issues with electronic items.

Well thanks for that, yes the battery is about 8 years old

If it's 8 years old, it's well past its best.
If it were mine replacing the battery would be the first thing to do.

Not sure about a Freelander but on other cars the outside mirror adjustment switch must be positioned to the driver’s NS mirror. This will allow for the mirror dip in reverse. .
