L322 Vogue reversing problem. Feels like brakes are on !

Just bought this 2.9TD L322 vogue.
Gears moving forward are fine. Reversing is the problem. The gear box selects reverse ok. However when I give it gas, it feels like the handbrake is still on.
This model has a manual hand brake in the cockpit not and electronic brake.
Eventually with lots of revs it does move.

I think it may be a solenoid or relay sticking.

Any help appreciated. !

Do you mean the 3 litre straight 6? Or is it a V engine??

3ltr - straight 6

That will be the TD6 m57 bmw engine with the GM gearbox made of chocolate

Sounds like it might be the gearbox on it' s way out judging by other posts.

Try driving in low ration for a few miles, then drive in sport mode for a while. Hook up a scanner and clear the ubiquitous trans warning for autobox and see what happens, you may need to clear the code a couple of times before seeing any improvement but it is DEFINITELY worth trying.
