Hi all,

I've recently bought my first ever discovery.... '52 plate TD5 SE7.. I have an annoying issue with the rear door I'd like to fix.

Whenever I close the rear door nd then lock the car with the keyfob the alarm sounds... invariably this ends with me having to open the rear door and slam it shut using all my weight.. However, the actual door shuts fine without too much bother so I'm thinking that maybe there is a plunger on the door which tells the alarm if its shut and maybe this needs adjusting ? But I can't find any such item... Does anyone know where the sensor for the rear door is and if I can adjust it ?

Cheers,

Mike.

Which rear door cos its not the same thing......anyway the switches ar within the door latch actuators.....try to shake the connectors maybe its a bad contact.....when any door is closed the switch closes the circuit between pin 5 and 6 of the connector ....u can try to bridge these two with connector unplugged and lock with the fob(u must leave the door open then)

U better download RAVE and follow the circuit of that particular door cos the BCU must get an earth through each doors switch as to not trigger the alarm.......if u're not very electically minded leave them bridged as to be able to replug the connector and find an electrician.

i put u the image of the taildoor cos i have it saved in imageshach but all the connectors from the doors are the same...to see location of pins 5 and 6

Thanks Sierrafery...

I have now found and downloaded RAVE, and yes it is the tail-door I have the problem with... I'll remove the door card and take a good look at it.

Thanks again.

Mike.

I'm having a similar issue with my 2005 Freelander 3 door. I can no longer use the central locking as the alarm triggers all hours of the night as there's something wrong with the swing gate sensor. Driving down the road, the dash light (door open) comes on and off, along with the interior light. I was planning to replace the latch assembly, and then found out it's £100!!! At a bit of a loss now.

This is the Discovery section mate, Freelander has a separate switch(actuator) for alarm/central locking in the tail door not part of the latch so work on that, google out ALR8702 that's what you need(provided it's not a wiring issue)....beside some attention where you post about the freelander
