Disco 2 Alarm doing odd thing

Hope someone can help with this.
Vehicle is a 2001 Disco Td5.
Away from home at the moment and the "unlock" button on the keyfob has fell out, can still lock/unlock using the key but when i unlock with the key the red light on dash goes out but as soon as i open the door the alarm goes off, as soon as i put the key in the ignition and turn it alarm stops, if i use the unlock button on the fob the same happens ???.
In the past i have used the key to lock/unlock when i have dogs in the vehicle and all has worked o.k (no alarm on opening door).
Any ideas what is wrong as i have now had to pull the main horn fuse and the wires to the alarm horn as its driving the other guests in the hotel nuts but once open i then have to put the main horn fuse back in so i have a horn.
Could this be due to the fact that a few days ago i had to remove the volometric sensor inside and maybe put the wires back on it the wrong way round ???

Hi, you say that the unlock button has fell out but then you say that if you use the unlock button the same happens like when you unlock with the key which is odd... so, can you still use the fob to unlock after the button has fell out? i mean do you see the LED on the fob reacting then? Do you have nanocom or similar?

Apologies for the confusion, my fault, its the Lock button that has fell out, the complete microswitch broke off and came out of a hole in the soft bit of the fob, Lock button is still there and works.
Have no nanocom or similar and nowhere near anyone who has one.
Trying to find out why it used to lock/unlock on key with no alarm going off but now it wont ???

Why did you remove the volumetric sensors in the first place? did the alarm make tricks before this behaviour?

Now here we have a dilemma.
If the plastic part of the fob has come away but the microswitch it still there then the fob will operate as usual. You just need to use a fingernail or small object to activate it.

If one of the microswitches has fallen out that is a different issue.

If the "lock" microswitch is inoperable, then you can still lock the vehicle up by using the key, turning it anticlockwise will lock it but cut out out the volumetric sensor which, as you say, you need to do if there are dogs in the car.
But if the "unlock" microswitch has fallen out then yes you will have to faff about to get the alarm to stop being annoying.

We need a tiny bit more clarity here before we can help you further.

I removed the sensors to drill a hole in the roof to run some wires through, the alarm was working fine before this.

The "lock" microswitch is not there at all, when it stopped working i tried to peal back the soft rubber button so i could use something to press the microswitch, as soon as i pealed it back the microswitch fell out of the case.

You can buy spare key kits which come with fobs and microswitches that you simply transfer the PCB into. I have been driving around with one on my keyring, with the key part uncut, for years. On the same keyring is the old key with the fob empty. Just use it in the ignition and to lock the door when dogs are in it.
Not expensive.

Did you keep it and try to put it back in?
I've just looked at my spare key where the rubber flexible bit over the unlock switch has fallen out. It "looks" as if the connections on the micrswitch might just be a push fit in, but what do I know. If they need soldering in thats more of a pain.

These can be awkwards to get hold of RS do them in quite long strips,, but NOT with manufacturers part number

Need 4.5N which are best for keyfobs

Should be about 20p to 50p each

They are soldered in, both of mine are reswitched and recased.

Temporarily then, until you get back home, you could just use something, like the tip of a small screwdriver or a paperclip, to bridge the existing contacts momentarily to get the rest of the fob to operate and unlock the door. Once in you can use the dash switch to open the other doors.

Not a bad price, don't know about the switch quality, I just had bought years ago CK 4.5N 200,000 cycles by the 100.

Now have enough left for one ore repair of mine.

Used to repair lots of Vauxhall fobs which used them and the fob rubber ate them.

Just a quick update
Got new key on way and have been using bit of wire to bridge contacts to unlock doors (happy hotel guests now).
Found someone local with nanocom so as soon as home hope to get it all sorted.

So the lock button was faulty but you used a wire to bridge the unlock unlock switch now while first time you said that you can unlock with the fob but doesnt help? I'm trying to figure out what's really going on there to be able to help

Sorry for causing confusion but it's the unlock button that was the problem, (I blame old age) .
The unlock microswitch is not there but the two small blobs of solder it was connected to are still on the circuit board and it was these i bridged to make a contact and get the doors to unlock.
Hope this makes things clear ???
