Well as title I did the headgasket on my 200tdi and while I was at it I decided too go back too a viscous fan because I find electric fans too be unreliable as I keep breaking them offroad. After it was all back together I took the car for a drive, engine runs fine but temp gauge read into the red I hit dashboard (history of faulty readings) and it returned to normal, I then drove back home only too hear my coolant bubbling when I parked up I checked the engine and the top and bottom hose were pressurised and too hot too touch but I also noticed the viscous pulley is loose, does this mean my waterpumps shot? Gonna try other things during week like flushing and cleaning radiator and refitting cowling I assumed with it being as cool as it is I shouldn't have a problem but its a slow increase in temp not a sudden spike up

check for air blocks in system and change the water pump b4 owt else

That's my first point of call mate, And when I say I can get hold of my viscous fan and wobble it quite a bit and its the actual pulley that moves am I right I. Assuming water pump knackered, also think there's coolant behind the pulley leaking

i am no real expert but a friend had a similar problem wiht his Kit car. when we stripped the head off we found that one of the coolant holes in the head was blocked. my be worth checking out.
