ducked out between the showers to look at my disco properly as it wont start, started checking fuse boxes and having a look over it..

Its bodge tastic, a couple of the main fuses in the bay have been bridged with wire where they have blown in the past, there's extra wires hanging around all over the place for extras that have been on it in the past and fuse holders with no fuses in. Then under the car its just covered in oil, its wet all over, seems to be some running down a tyre so will have to check the diff levels and oil level, usual valve covers leaking by the looks of it, just a right mess though.

Could be a mission to sort this lot out.. once i get it running again.

Is it a lemon? or is this the norm for a '96 disco?

well yes i looked before i bought it, but im not into pulling fuse boxes open and sliding right under cars when i buy, when i bought it the thing started and ran so i had no reason to worry looked straight from a first look.

Maybe not the best way to buy a land rover but if all you've got to worry about is a few wayward wires it's probably a good un:D

My thought's exactly:eek:, I learnt the hard way with the 1st in not knowing about the rust issue's, didn't make that error with the 2nd though.

Why not get the engine/underside cleaned up then the oil leak's origin's might become more apparent after a couple of runs (our rocker cover gasket went, made a right mess over engine and chassis).

Merely stopping the Disco marking it's territory (well one of the leak's anyway:doh:), all the oil that has covered the chassis & engine has been left well alone;) to slow down the tinworm.

yeah it has to be pretty good rust proofing, i'll probably end up changing the fluids then just keeping them topped up since.. well.. its not the prettiest car in the world
