Evening all,

Ok so fitted new starter today, very easy (Without) the need to remove the down pipe (200tdi) !
Connected batt neg , turned the key and............fook all again!
Checked power to exciter wire with ignition cranked and nothing, so had the dash apart to check it was still attatched, it was, gave the key another turn and she tried to start for a very brief moment but didn't!
So an issue with the wires me thinks, so ran a new wire to spade on the starter and to back of ignition barrel (thick white with red trace) and still nothing, no 12v on ignition spade either !
Any ideas apart from a dodgy ignition barrel ?

If you run a wire from the spade terminal to the battery does it start when you flash the wire on the battery?
Have you tested the voltage coming down the wire from the ignition if someone holds the ignition in the start position?
Have you got a good earth on the starter motor? try running a jump lead from the Neg down to the starter body.

Norfolk mick, earth is ok and yes can jump direct from the battery, but nothing coming from back of ignition barrel, so points to fault with barrel I guess !

If it was working before then it could be that the spade terminals at the starter end got damaged when you unplugged them. If you have a multimeter then check the continuity of the wire between the ign barrel and the existing terminal and the if nothing then snip the connector off, replace and try again

Chezvegas will give that a go, I'm quickly loosing the will to live here!
The spade on the ignition barrel does feel loose, maybe that's causing the issue with no power to the exciter?
