hi guys first post and first disco so please go easy. just bought a 1994 tdi 300 disco all is well apart from a few issues . firstly is an oil leak it is not coming from the rooker cover or the crank seal so is where else is it likely to be coming from . secondly would like to know the best way to check the state of the dreaded boot floor as the carpet is stuck down fast so can only see the edges and the seatbelt anchor points all of which is ok .the rest of the car seems sound no rust and drives great thanks for reading and any info you can give me cheers

Welcome Keith...
Check the boot floor out from underneath if you can't lift the carpet (might be wise to prise the carpet up anyway). Check the front inner wings and footwells and the rear inner arches (open the back doors and look where the wheel arch meets the pillar) for rust.

Kneel down in the rear load area. If the floors knackered you'll feel it crunching under your knees as you shift weight from one knee to the other & if it's really bad you'll hear it as well.

thanks andy will get under the boot tomorow rear arches have been done front inner wings are fine as are the footwells do you think it is worth having it waxoyld as all seems solid .and any idea on the oil leak thanks for the help

dont be to worried about the boot floor they are dead easy to replace :)
not too worried mate just a bit cautios as i have just got the disco to replace the most rusty v6 shogun u have ever seen so i am on constant look out for new rust think im addicted to it.

If you have any pictures of the rust on that shogun please let me have it!! or post here... have a couple of mates with japcrap that keep taking the **** out the land rover, saying theirs will never rust!

to give you an idea where you can find rust, look at the pic below..
for the boot floor i would really advise on taking the pastic trim out the boot lip, just a few screws, and lift the carpet. if the soundproofing foam is still there will be probably be wet, take it off...

well on inspection the boot floor is ok so think i've been lucky an got a good one although in fairness i know whos had it for the last 10 years so that helps just need to find the oil leak now and all will be well for the time being anyway.

na,,,, a welder, some steel and some tools :)

looking at the photo of the new floor, very nice, a quick question can you get the upstand for the rear of the floor off the shelf or need to fabricate one, mine has about 12" missing??
