Bought her from Stratstone in November 2012, they dropped the price by about £1400 due to their "cheapest car in the area" price promise. That was down in Birmingham, but i got local dealer to get it up here, so all in all i was happy :D

05/05 TD4 in Cairns Blue, SE spec, so, CD changer, full heated leather, powerfold mirrors, glass sunroof, heated windscreen (never had one before, will never not have one again!).

It came with 17's, but with dodgy chinese kwik fit special summer tyres on, it was November, so needed to move fast! Bought some 16's from a guy in Perth, who just happened to be driving past me 2 days later so he dropped them off...5 wheels, 1 with a brand new Synchrone (this will be for sale in a weeks time), a couple of Scorpion STR's and a couple of Michelin Latitude's. I kept the Scorpions and sold the Latitude to a guy from LandyZone.

Ended up selling the 17's for more than i paid for the 16's, so was mighty happy. Bought 2 new Scorpion's for the rear's, and i was happy. I live on a building site, so proceeded to find every bit of mud i could find to play in! :D

Christmas came, and so did a black nudge bar, paid something like £25 for it from Craddock's, they're now £155, work that out?!

Came into its own in 6-8 inches of snow in January, life saver :D

And now we're at today, it hasnt changed, except its been used as a commercial for the past 2-3 months, the back seats have been permanently folded forward!

I do have on order though, for delivery from tomorrow onwards...

AlliSport hose kit (2 of mine are leaking, so might as well replace all 3) with EGR blank
Spacers
5x 225/75/16 Cooper Discoverer AT3, £474 for the lot, and a tenner a corner to fit at a friendly garage i know :D2 Scorpions and a brand new Synchrone will be up for sale next week.
Lift kit, 40mm, bought off ebay, to use as a template, fit it for a bit til i get my own made then sell it on and get some money back

Not to mention the parts i have in development ;)

Simon.

Thanks guys, looking at those pics again makes me realise how filthy my car is now! Needs a wash badly!

Its my first car of this type, previously i've had all manner of cars, and still got a BMW in the garage, but i think i've sold it today so we'll see. Gone from low slung sports cars to this, was quite a change, but i like it, apart from how horribly slow they are!

Nice looking Freelander. If you like speed you need the V6!! Mine is pretty quick for a 4X4 although it's not exactly economical, in fact it's very thirsty but it flies.

Would've fancied a v6, just running costs really! Could maybe swap one day, never know!

I'm lucky because I don't do huge milage so the V6 works for me. I'm still working on a manual gearbox conversion as I'm not a fan of the auto, gearbox aside I think the V6 is good

To be honest, I don't do many miles, barely 10k a year, I just never considered the v6, the auto wouldn't bother me

Removed my EGR and fitted silicone hoses, all from AlliSport, tonight... Wow, what a difference it's made! Although that last jubilee clip on the intercooler hose is a right sod! Wasn't expecting the amount of oil I found either!
Pics and write up fill follow

What was the reason you changed from 17" wheels to 16" ?

Tyre choice!

What you can get for the 17's is limited, and expensive, 16's gave me a much wider tyre choice and a much cheaper price (something like 50 quid per corner difference for same tyre).

Plus the 16's are better for off roading, more air, so more bounce and more give overall.

New tyres arrived today, got 5 AT3's from Craddocks in 225/75/16, Cooper website says they've got 16.5mm tread new, but i think its a little less, could be 12-15mm tops!

But, they're feckin massive, just hope they fit ok with the spacers & lift (although its just spacers for now til i get sorted with a good quality lift kit!)

225/75/16 Will defiantly fit with a lift kit, I would of got 30mm hubcentric spacers though. Alot more secure when driving off road.....and loads more clearance. Plus they look cool. :)

I know I have 205/80/16 tyres, but here's a pic of mine with 2" lift and 30mm spacers. I couldn't put 225's on mine as the alloys are 6" wide. :)
