I have a 2002 2.5tdi that has a strange noise when pulling away when the engine is cold. Once warmed up it goes away. It's a loud noise, difficult to describe, like a cow mooing/vibrating sound.

Anyone else had this issue before?

2002 usually has a TD5 engine or has yours been changed?

Sorry yes its a uk TD5 landy. Hand brake loosens off fine as far as I'm aware. It sounds like it could be from around the engine area. Like ive said its a loud noise. Difficult to describe. Like a deep bellow, screeching type sound. Only happens when pulling away in reverse or 1st. The sound is nonexistent when idle.

If won't be if it's not doing it on tick over, as the flywheel and everything is all moving on idle already. So I'm guessing it's not engine related and more of the driveline somwhere, only things I can think of is the handbrake drum, then callipers, don't really think it will be much else of top of me head..

Hmmm. How do I check the handbrake drum? Also, when having some recent work done the mechanic showed us a little play in the prop shaft UJs. Could this also be a possibility?
