hi

about three days ago while driving i noticed i only had about two inches of clutch and the rest of the travel was just play. so i checked the fluid and it was empty so i filled it up and the clutch was back to normal. now today the same thing again and the fluid gone.

i had a look under the slave cylinder and theres no fluid leaking at all except only a bit coming out from that hole under the transfer/gear box?

any ideas on what it could be and around about how much it will cost to fix.

cheers

ive checked to pedal and theres no fluid there? can clutch fluid come out of that hole then cause the oil coming out of there is black?

remove slave its probably leaking in bell housing and will come out of wading plug hole not much as reservoir doesnt hold much will be black as bell housing will be oily from engine and have clutch dust

ok will try get on that later. the slave isnt had to remove is it? dont you have to line up a bar that sits in the slave cylinder? last time i changed one of these it was a f***er to line back up. any tips to make it easier?

after undoing nuts pull away from bellhousing carefully holding push rod as soon as possible other wise it may pull out its clip in release arm and take a bit of getting back

ok will try that. and i know it sounds stupid but ive never done anything on a transfer box before how do i check if theres enough oil in it?

but fresh in unless done recently i reckon diffs and transfer box gearbox etc want doing once a year on averge mileage dont put ep90 in gearbox but do diffs as well while there

I had a similar issue except I wasn't loosing fluid, still clutch pedal with very little movement and had to be raised by hand to reach the return spring. Definitely not right for a hydraulic system.

Slave cylinder is very easy to change, although I found access to the bottom bolt poor, spent a good few minutes putting it back in with a little 1/4" bar, quarter of a turn at a time. Would have been easier if my 1/4" little rachet wasn't broken!

See my thread about Heavy Clutch Pedal for a couple of tips for removing the master cylinder if you have to, real PITA!!
