I am sure i have seen somewhere how to strip callipers down on 300tdi disco but i cant find it anywhere... can anyone help please?

if you have access to air line blow pistons out but not completely use a piece of wood etc to stop them so that all are nearly out otherwise one will blow out others will then not be able to ,then undo 4 bolts clamping halves together ,keep hold of seals in two halves and pull pistons out ,remove seals and clean parts thoroughly ,when refitting pressure seal (inner one)rub your finger from inside bore outwards you should feel seal lip as you do to ensure fitted correctly outer seal and retainer fitted as one using suitable dolly and tapped in square ,if you dont have access to air line remove pads and using brake pedal and suitable spacer press piston so all are nearly out before removing caliper

The Usual Advice is don't. you can remove pistons and replce pistons an seals. anything else would be better entrusted to a specialist. If you have a compressor you can use an ai line to pop the pistons out, just put a thin piece of wood between pistons, to stop em from coming out completely. As if one is seized the other will pop out and then the air will escape and the seized one won't move.

why you need to take them completly apart in 2 halves ????
tis only usually the pistions and seals that need replaceing
why wouldnt you ,splitting them is the simle part of caliper repair, plus makes refitting seals and pistons easier plus you should do all per caliper and other unless like new for balance

I was always told that ya shouldn't take the callipers apart.. due to difficulty in resealing em and the danger of getting dirt or grit in them.
never found resealing difficult even when having to use old seals again as new unavailable ,its just 2 square section orings that sit in recess as long as the sit proud they seal,we used to strip hundreds ,wet blast them ,send them for zinc plating then rebuilt like new ,buy never used cheap seal kits

just to show in a pic what JM was explaining...

this is a pic I took when cleaning up the calipers on mine.
but I do take the whole piston out, but has to be done one by one.

clamp 3 pistons - here im using a socket to stop 2 coming out and a clamp for the 3rd one.
Leaving the 4th piston free to pop out as I blow air in the caliper.

Then, once that one is cleaned, pop it back in and clamp it with another 2 and pop other one out to clean.. and so on.
