Hi Guys', i have an annoying problem with my 1996 3.9 manual trans. Discovery. At odd times (becoming more frequent) The thing refuses to start. I unlock using the remote, jump in, turn the key and .... nothing. The ign lights etc on the dash illuminate, the fuel pump runs/primes but the starter fails to turn. Lock/unlock a few times and it ( might) crank/start. I've even tried rocking it in 2nd gear to see if the starter has a "dead spot" in it, this helped once ! The battery is 100% and most of the time she behaves ok. I have a starter relay coming and will try that first.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hehehe i like it "clouting with a stick" made me chuckle that, i remember my dad trying this when i was little on his ford cortina however he used a big spanner, was very pretty, lots of sparks!!!!

Ill put money on it being the spider ;)

Hi Jason2, isn't there is a cable Land Rover produced to isolate the "spider", would you know it's part number ????? And what will i lose once it's isolated ??

Kind regards Mark.

Hi

I take it you have tried beating it with a stick.

Land Rover brought out a special bypass plug jobby thing that plugs into spider to remedie any eventual problems. I think that you can only get from stealer!
