HDC Hill descent awful noise!!

Just tried my hill descent on a very steep hill and when going down I slightly accelerated and lifted off and when lifting off there was an awful clonking/grinding noise?

Anyone advise?

Sounds as if it was working. Did it keep you at 5.6mph?

That's the noise it makes as it brakes each wheel individually as required.

Ahhhhh so its normal?

I was just worried because I was on a solid road not loose/off road. The sound was coming from the propshaft as far as I could make out. It only made the noise when de-celerating.

Not sure if it kept me at 5.6MPH....Should it do that????

Yep, 10 kph as far as i know.

It makes all sorts of clunks and bangs and then it'll settle down once the speed is under control.

If the HDC is used on a loose/ slippery surface it's not as noisy

Your not on your own there when I first had the motor one of the kids had messed with it drove ok until I slowed down!! Sounded expensive "KIDS":censored:

But I did have a Yeti with a similar system before.

Thanks for that Miky, I'm chuffed for your good news ("its normal"). But not so good for me,my HDC used to light up when it felt like it,even when not engaged, and its never made any noise when engaged,obviously no awful noises is not always a good thing. I replaced the rear diff mountings about a month ago which stopped the HDC light pleasing its self when to come on,but does light up when engagedBut still no noise. I logged in to ask advice about my slipping clutch, the peddle is up to the top and if i force it more the clutch slips less, if i even think of depressing the peddle it slips Could the fact of a split Turbo pipe dripping oil all over the gearbox have anything to do with it? I logged on with one problem, and now i have two
That will teach me not to nose about in other users Threads
