Looks like Im future proofing our 69 109 2a,Already spent too many summers welding the chassis for another load of holes to come through, plus down in the wet country it is always wet.

So the Landy has a perking prima fitted by myself 7 years back. I want a richards chassis and am wondering engine mounts.

It is a straight 6 chassis so am wondering if the engine mounts are going to be moved from the original position.

ANy ideas

Dumb question - did you pull out the 6 and put in the Prima - or had it been re-engined somewhere before?

If the former, then order a 6-pot chassis and you should be the same as the old chassi. If you moved the mounts you'll have to do it again.

If you're working with a re-engined multiple times truck then you likely will be fiddling with mounts as a 4-pot or a 6-pot won't match in my opinion.

Just my .02 as i read the question...

Nope I did all the work originally, it is a 109 straight six chassis, the gearbox is the fixed position, the engine mounts are very far back due to the shortness (same as 2 1/4) of the engine

Cant you supply dimensions to Richards of the mounts and where they are on the old chassis so they can build the new chassis to suit before it gets galved ?

To be honest I'm not sure going with the Prima is "Future proofing"

Tried buying Cam belts or Tensioner wheels lately ???

Supplies ARE starting to dry up AND IMHO the situation is only going to get worse as time goes on as demand falls .

I'd be looking at going 200/300 TDI for parts availability...folks are starting to flap about 200's BUT there are rafts still around and demand is high (Prices of 200's are reflecting that too)
Beauty of a 200 IS that it will fit on standard mounts SHOULD you wish to revert to 2 1/4 power in the future to cash in on originality .

td prima water pumps were about £100 about 5 years back , and not that easy to find

Doom and gloom :)

Don't worry, water pumps can be rebuilt, got a nice company lined up if I need one, around £40.

Its was used in LDVs so parts while not pence are still widely available if you know where to look

Vehicle has been fine running for 7 years

Well that has sorted future proofing :) the prima mounts will be the exact distance from the gearbox to accept a 2 1/4 petrol engine , this will then mean I can now also fit a 200tdi :)

Also due to the gearbox being back where the straight six one sits the 200tdi will/would have more space at the front.

FYI it will be 835mm forward from the centre of the gearbox crossmember.
