Hello. Ive got myself a true barn find series 11a. Needs some mild chassis and bulk head repairs but is in very good condition over all.

Its 109 sw. So comes with the 6 cylinder 2.6l petrol. Ive fitted the dizzy that was in the parts box. And a random hif carb to get her running. And she fired up lovely after a 21 year rest! So very please so far. However there does seam to be too many fine bubbles in the water, suspected head gasket, on a motor known for trouble. Would be nice to keep here orginal....but....id like to use it a fair bit.

So just wondering is the bell houseing the same for the 2.6. What engines will go straight in? Especially interest in a 300tdi conversion. Dont mind welding engine mounts n stuff.

Also considering a 300tdi discovery as a donor vehicle. Then could swap engine gear box and transfer box. And even the axels.
Comments on pros and cons greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Great you got it going with little effort, it does look like you have a fair bit of work to do first, I would do that and then see how it goes and then think about engine swaps later , a few on here have the 2.6 and may come with more insightful replies but to find an original and swap out engine gearbox and axles does seem a tad sacrilegious.

Fuel bill will empty your wallet.

Car looks straight and tidy, though I would be going over that chassis/body and rear passenger door area with a fine tooth comb.

Fantastic, your car upgrade is like having a brand-new one. I truly respect your skills, and they are truly lovely. Please provide more images after it's finished and sold.
