Just ordered 272506 on diagram, after looking at rynners pic I think this might just work.
Do they all have this part fitted ? maybe the problem is its missing from mine.

Mine does have that bracket I believe but it is secured by two bolts where would you secure the second one?
Photo from my old chassis prior to fitting to new one.

here is my bracket before galvanising, it seems out of shape to normal ones unless its just the pics, it only has one hole in middle for rubber but Im hoping that I can drill 2 holes in it to make the new bracket fit somehow.

Lifted it up a few inches and propped it near enough in the centre, it does need to go down when mounts are finally in place but still doesnt look right. Now not sure if this other bracket Ive ordered will work,.
It has now pushed the passenger side all the way forward as far as it will go in the mount bracket, any further and its catching chassis rail as in pic.
Brackets coming Thursday so will see what that does.
Really hope I can fabricate something without having to cut and weld the chassis.
Doing my head in now.

Looking at them three pics would suggest to me the engine is to far over to the passenger side?
I would try as is with pass side mount fitted as is, then work on the driver side being wrong as its the longest/most room for small error to become a bigger error very quickly, that wedge rynner suggested could be your answer
If you are using the crank handle hole as a reference maybe asking others to post up pics of where their crank is in relation might be a better help?

What eyar is your car? just had a look in the s2 parts manual, I cannot see any wedge listed.

its 1970 but to be honest Im using bits of everything, so could have series 3 parts on there 2 for all I know.

If I drop the passenger side in to the mount it will move over to drivers side, and the crank hole will be out of line with engine.
Just hope the wedge does the job when it comes but not building my hopes up yet.
This is what Ive ordered in pic

I had a glance at my crank hole (oo-er) today and even with a new galv chassis it's not dead central in the PTO hole.

Well that wedge didnt even fit on the mount, only one of the holes was on the other off the end, it would of only made a tiny bit difference anyway even if it did bolt on. Back to square one again, gonna have another think and try again tomorrow.

If you fit nearside mount with driverside engine mount bracket removed and the rubber fitted on that side maybe the engine mount can be cut and re welded at a different angle.

A Mate had a look and he has swapped mounts around, but both need altering , drivers side needs cutting and welding and passenger side needs another hole drilled in. its just about there now , near enough I think , Will get pics tomorrow.

I don’t know about yours but I’ve just managed to get my standard ones in after finally rejoining the engine and gearbox.
What was wrong with these sadistic barstewards. Even the standard ones are almost impossible to get on.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Leave slightly loose & use a piece of cable/string to move into the holes. (Put the pressure onto the threads ) Saves the fingers getting squashed

@border ...dont know if this helps but heres pics of the 59 I'm working on nipped out and took pics in the dark...pics are drivers side first chassis and engine then passenger but mount for that side was round as in your pic but had to cut it off as was just spinning...
Cheers Rob...

Tanks for that Mate.
I think my problem is that my drivers side is a different mount, it does not have the 3 holes for the wedge bit and its a different shape to yours which is the proper one.
Its either off a different chassis or its a home made thing to suit.
Nothing ever goes straight forward for me but its a lot closer now , just needs bit of welding on drivers mount and a hole drilling in passenger side.
Will post pics in a bit.

OK Will this plan work ? swapped mounts around to there opposite sides
First pick drivers side with passenger mount only in bottom hole, can this be welded on to get top hole too ?
Second pic passenger side with drivers mount in, also only in bottom hole but needs another hole drilling for top bolt where red line is..
Is all the above possible ? or am I going to far ? or am I stupid ?

They are easy peasy, what is tough is fitting modified tdi ones (nearly half as big again) to a series motor in situ!

Is the drivers side now only held onto engine with one bolt?
